This is mainly for people in the us.

Do you often see those? Are they common in atms and banks?

They are kinda cool I guess.

One thing I hate about US bills is that they are so frigging HUGE. Compared to Polish Złoty, they are twice as big.

It looks like a jar of ink for the quill above it.

I can't really see the point of new dollar bills when the old ones are still valid forever (they are, right?)...

The old ones will be taken out of circulation wont they? That's how it works here when new notes are introduced.

Hmm, no? Way too many dollar bills around the planet, it will take several years (or decades) to take the old ones of circulation, and they will still be valid.

Edit: I actually have a dollar bill from 1974, and it's valid Laughing
I don't see how they prevent counterfeit bills by improving the design...

Hahah true, I actually miss my beloved lira Crying or Very sad Laughing
The highest was the 500k one, roughly 250€ Razz. One of the reasons that basically destroyed and are destroying the country is the fact that salaries have been properly converted from lire to euro, whereas taxes and necessity goods virtually adopted the 1000₤=1€ convention (they basically doubled), a very convenient move for the government but a terrible, terrible one for us Okay

That gamestore in Rome <3 So cheap and had everything. Think after I shopped there it was one extra luggage on the plane. Had every console, imports and classics. Made a few of my friends jelly when they noticed what I got for 1/4 of the price in Belgium

But yup now with the euro it went worse, especially for the ones living there Sad

They're more common than I thought they would be. You go to a bank and take out 600, you'll probably get 4 of them.

When they exchanged finnish marks to euros in 2002 relative prices went up. One euro converts to six old finnish marks. A common joke was that nothing changed in prices except the currency, so everything's six times more expensive now. It really isn't that far from the truth since salaries obviously do not soar as fast as costs.
