yes japanese committed warcrimes so lets commit some too and bomb a whole city.
maybe hitler should have rounded up jews and drop an atomic bomb on them, would he have gotten a medal from the US president?
I dont get how crimes are ok depending on who did it.
Saved more lives by dropping both bombs on Japan or do any of you REMOTELY read 60+ years of history? We still debating this? Oh thats right: we have so many "champagne socialists" on these forums who thing we should over-analyse and over-think every last detail about "maybes". Thankfully, your lives are so coddled and secure and comfy that war is just a mere video game MEANWHILE if the few days your life are thrust into an ACTUAL war you will all be the very first to die. The US did what it had to do at the time thankfully without all the BS arm-chair commie quarterbacking by the cyber-intelligentsia going on who are experts on "waffling" on anything. Hard decisions are NOT for the timid.. sorry.
War is fcuking hell, folks.. most of you including me won't remotely survive it because we've all become too comfortable in these multi-decades time of peace. Sh!t happens by all sides as it has for a million years..

No. That was part of it because an island invasion based on how fanatical the Japanese were defending their Empire would have been costly trying to conquer it with troops. Dropping the bombs would prove there would be absolutely no hope against the US as they had the technological advantage. Oh and considering the lessons how much more brutal the Japanese were in their Empire building verses the States this was a better compromise to sacrifice civilians than a full out land invasion where the Japanese would have sent everyone to their deaths anyway.
So is this trying to revisit history or "conveniently" revise it without remotely understanding the context at the time. That was a different time period and the world was tired of war. 60 years late to go hoo hum maybe if they did this or that different. NO! A decision was made and we are here today doing pretty ok with no other Nukes dropped on civilians since then. Not Damn Bad..
Anyway, nowadays you can die from many miles away by a drone without even knowing it.. We're all a living video game now.

Not that I care, has nothing to do with my generation and it's in the past, just like black slaves and people still being butthurt about it, but i find the fact they decided the need to tape it to be more offensive than the bomb itself.
