So I just visited my mother today and one thing led to the other and we started to talk about games. She showed me these crappy facebook games that she was playing, some kind of "crime investigation" which was dumb and repetitive as hell.

Now the thing is she asked me if I knew something a bit like it but with some more depth and actual gameplay but I had to say that I didn't know anything like that at the top of my head as it's not really my cup of tea.

However looking around it seems like she might be interested in some of those sherlock holmes games however there is quite a few of them and it's hard to tell exactly how difficult they are to play. It would also be preferable if it was a game you could play just using the mouse

If anyone know of any other games or can tell me what specific sherlock game is easy to play please say so

Sherlock Holmes Mystery of the Mummy and vs Ripper were fairly easy as far as I remember, though the others weren't too hard either (except maybe for Sherlock Holmes vs Arsène Lupin). The games already mentioned are all good, so you can't go wrong with them. Razz (Still Life, Syberia, Broken Sword etc.)
Other decent candidates could be Gray Matter, Overclocked, The Blackwell series, Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller, The Secret Files series

The raven game that was already mentioned is easy to get into, has simple mechanics and an interesting story. I would recommend it even though it uses the keyboard to move around, it's very easy to play. It even runs on my shitty i3 laptop, if her computers performance is a concern.

Depends on what she's after. My mother just wanted some light puzzles to unwind without bothering with stories and such, and she's enjoyed a bunch of hidden object games, can't remember names, as they all look the same too be Wink

edit:and the Csi adventure games are pretty easy, not brilliant but ok'ish

Ace Attorney series on NDS combines detective work with work in the court, they are all funny, quite easy, but the cases are excellent and intriguing with lots of plot twists. If she has an Android phone you can download an NDS emulator and play all of them besides the newest one on 3DS.
