Though it's a TN panel, a BenQ 2410TX (or something) has 3D, 120hz and 24"..perhaps it's price dropped a bit

Long wait ahead of you. No one is investing in it anymore because it has flopped miserably. It didn't even take off in TVs, let alone monitors where support is dominated by Nvidia on one hand, AMD + HDMI 1.4 + <3D driver manufacturers> on the other. Then there's active versus passive, where active sucks for most people because it gives them headaches, passive being non-standard rendering.
3D is not going to change anymore. On the PC, VR is the next step. On TVs, it'll probably linger around, but all development has shifted towards refresh rates, 4K and OLED. There should've been a standard from the start. Instead there's differences on both the glasses and displays. Nvidia and Samsung overpricing their glasses the way they did also didn't help at all.
Edit: to add to the above though, once panels can be produced at high enough quality, with good endurance and with high refresh rates, we may see 3D come back without glasses. But at the moment, that is still too expensive. 3D in its current shape and form with glasses is pretty much dead though; it's at least not going to improve in any way. It hasn't in the last 4 years, there's nothing left to improve.

Also a tip, don't go 27 incher if you stick only to Full HD resolutions - depending on how close you sit, the pixel density just won't be there. For gaming, a 24 incher is ideal, if you want to play at Full HD.

Not really, i played at a friends house on the Acer HN274Hbmiiid, and i didn't notice that at all.
And for me upgrading, i'm NOT going to upgrade a 24 inch to another 24 inch, that's just a waste of money.

Did you get him yet sin? Lemme know how it is if so
Btw, it's in black also apparently, tho i'm not 100% sure specs are the same, because the H and Q difference at the end instead of just calling one silver and other black..

Do you want to use Nvidia 3D vision or what? Those are 60hz panels.

You should go and check out 21:9 in person. Compare it to the other options, see what you rather have.
I thought i was gonna buy 1440p before i saw this.. since then i never looked back. Simply amazing how much more immersive games are.

I would avoid Asus. I just had an Asus IPS LED monitor I bought in the beginning of December develop problems. I still have not even received the $20 mail in rebate on it and now that money will probably go toward shipping it in to get it repaired. This is the first time I have had a monitor fail so quickly.

i've been gaming on a 27" IPS 1080p screen for well over 2 years now and wouldn't have it any other way. all these claims about how you can see pixels etc are urban myth. and i'm fully aware how 27" 1440p looks, because i use quality one at work 8 hours a day.
there are multiple advantages for 27" 1080p as a gamer: you can have it further away from eyes and text doesn't become too tiny, having big monitor too close to your eyes is bad for fast online games.
1080p is a nice res, you can have just one GTX770/780 and everything will run silky smooth, no need for ridiculous SLI 780Ti setups or anything like that.
consoles: you can hook up a PS4 and it will look great at 1080p, on 1440p monitor will look like ass running at non native res.
movies: 1080p movie will display on native res and look super crisp.
TL;DR version - for home use pc and console gaming, movies, 27" 1080p wins big time.
