Having trouble with sound in cutscenes and random crashes...?
Then try this, if u know what you are doing...
And this is for Win XP Pro
1. Launch command prompt START > Run, and type in the following string:
2. regsvr32 /u "C:\WINDOWS\system32\IVIAUDIO.AX"
(Can be different directory, search and then type in the right directory)
3. Press the OK button.
4. When presented with the successful pop-up, press the OK button.
6. Press again the OK button
7. Close all windows and applications and re-boot your system.
Now this game works perfect, and no more annoying crashes.... hope that this can help some of U guys...
PS. Also read this first....
What can I do when I get a message stating that there are problems with iviaudio.ax?
Some Microsoft DirectShow video filters are installed by non-Microsoft video and audio programs, and are known to cause issues in Windows Movie Maker either when you try to import or preview audio and video, or when you try to save a movie. To prevent such issues, these filters are turned off by default in Windows Movie Maker 2.1. If you are having problems with a DirectShow filter, check to make sure that it is turned off by doing the following:
In Windows Movie Maker, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Compatibility tab.
In the list of video filters, do one of the following:
To turn off a filter, clear its check box.
To turn on a filter, select its check box.
Turning off DirectShow video filters in Windows Movie Maker 2.1 does not affect their functionality in other video and audio programs that might be installed on your computer.
Also Iviaudio.ax full name is InterVideo Audio Decoder

Dont forget the CARDS there are many cool upgrades you can do with the right cards that you gain from exp click on the flag in yer display to get to the cards in the middle of the game. Make sure you have selected a building to recieve your goods. Took me till act 2 to figure out them cards, going back to play on "hard" now

It seems that i have encountered a problem after all......
In Act II, Seven Years of War. The cutscene ensues, and John Black's men help the French ward of the British. But after the British are killed nothing happens.....
The screen doesnt even move to show who they are fighting. You can see the settlers mining and working in the mills, and the deep thunder of artillery or monitors firing.
But the game does not progress.
Anyone else experience this problem or has any suggestions.
I cant even bring up the menu because pressing escape pauses the game, and i have to basically close the game by Pressing Alt-F4.
Update: I let the game run for 10 mins or so. And the British repeatedly keep on coming and they eventually kill all my men and destroy the French colony the aritllery sound stops and the British walk off the screen. And nothing happens. I tried this couple of times by restarting the game. But i presume this is a bug.
Update 2: I have found a workaround to the problem.
If i change the difficulty setting in the game from Moderate to Easy in the campaign screen. It works just fine.

By cards you mean stuff like getting surgeons and villagers and supplies etc. The town centre recieves the goods by default.

I don't have this file in \system32. I have it in C:\WINDOWS\AC3CODEC and well... it is my AC3 codec. I guess I would have to use regsvr32 /u "C:\WINDOWS\AC3CODEC\IVIAUDIO.AX but what does that do exactly? Does it uninstall the AC3 codec? |
Yes, that is right, the file can be in a different directory.
And about what Regsvr32 does:
This command-line tool registers .dll files as command components in the registry.
Parameters = /u : Unregisters server.
I can only speak for myself, but AOE3 works like a charm now, no clipping in sound and no crashes, and I have no problems with the sound in movies, mp3, games after I unregged this file... also I have ACE Megacodecs installed, so maybe that codec pack screwed something up before, but I don´t know..

You can try this steps then:
1. Step: Reduce DirectSound Hardware Acceleration
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type dxdiag, and then click OK.
- Click the Sound tab.
- Under DirectX Features, move the Hardware Sound Acceleration Level slider all the way to the left (the No acceleration setting).
- Click Exit, and then start the game.
2. Step: Load no autostart programs when Win XP starts.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
- Click the selective start option.
- Uncheck the square "read in autostart objects"
- Click OK and reboot windows.
Same procedure when u wanna turn it on again..
Sorry if the words are not quite correct, but I have the Swedish XP, but I think U get it... good luck
And one more thing you can try, turn off the overclocking on the graphic card if u have it overclocked.

lol, this game seriously needs a sound patch, so many people (me included) who have sound issue's and not just with creative cards, non of the suggest fixes work (thanx for the suggestions) for me and i have tried them all to date, simply put this game should not be released as final to the general public and should not be supported/brought if game isn't at least in a workable state and we shouldn't have to wait for a patch to get it working before we can even play it, but it does seem a good why to stop people warezing it, lol

Well the game is still not released yet and you still are not supposed to have it. Perhaps they would release a patch as soon as the game is on shelves. I btw only encountered one bug which you can view a few posts above.

CREDITS GOES TO: sygmas from gamefaqs.com
Since AOE3 is encrypted its proving quite hard to develop a typical trainer for the game, and none of the 'text' cheats are available at the moment. So I've figured a way around this to produce a Resource hack for those interested.
Go to your AOE3 directory, then to Data, and find proto.xml
Right click the file and hit Properties, uncheck "Read Only" and hit OK. Now right click proto.xml again, and hit edit.
Now when youre in the file hit search look for "CrateOf"
You will find CrateofFood, CrateofCoin, CrateofWood, CrateofFoodLarge, CrafteofCoinLarge, CrateofWoodLarge
For all these entries find the tag "InitialResourceCount" and change the count to whatever you want. I.E. the normal crates each have I believe "100.000" of the resources, you can change the 100 to 99999.000 etc. Make sure you do this for all the crates, because sometimes a map will give you a large crate of something, and smaller ones of something else, etc.
This works best because every map you play in campaign or skirmish starts you out with some 'crates' of resources, which your settlers will gather out. This will edit the crates to have huge amounts of resources in them, but theres a catch, it still takes forever to get the resources out of the crate for the settlers, since theres so many.
If youre impatient, search for "Settler" in proto.xml and find the tag for GatherCrate, change the value to whatever you want, preferably something really high (I put 99999) for kicks. They'll pull the resources out of the crate instantly.
When youre done editting, simply save the file and exit out.
There you go.
|
Ok I found this hack so I thought would share with yah.. I'm actaully testing this hack I hope it work because man I stuck at fountain of youth something like that hahah
P.S he said search for "InitialResourceCount", but in full game is like this ex:
<InitialResource resourcetype ='Food'>100.0000</InitialResource>
UPDATE: I use "CrateOfWood" and I put 5000.000, boom! it worked butyou gotta put few settle to collect all the source
