Is this game really worth playing? I'm getting tired of these constant (survival) FPS games with too much darkness, and they just boast pretty graphics and physics. I haven't been compelled to finish any of them, ie Doom 3, Half Life 2, Far Cry
For some reason I really just want to shoot....well...people. I'm tired of shooting aliens and zombies and zombie aliens; I want a game with goals (like a tactical shooter) but without the difficulty and tediousness of a tactical shooter, ie Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, etc.

I keep getting "Please instert original disk" and various similar messages.
I got alcohol 120%, newer than what it's recommended, and I've used the virtualcd hide 1.0.0.7 program. Also tried the registry thing which has been talked about and it didn't work.
Also tried to burn the DVD with RMPS and it launches fine, just won't play and gives me the whole "wrong disk" thing.
Anyone got clue why it's not working?

Sounds like your cd image is bad. The error when it detects daemon and alcohol is 'emulation software detected'. You'll only get your error message when there's no CD in the drive, the CD is so dirty it can't verify it's legit, or it's a bad image.
If it's a homemade image, it doesn't have the information needed to fake being real. ISOs never have that information. CCD/BIN/SUB and MDS/MDF generally have that info, if they are ripped right.

SR7.Stop (aka read fucking nfo, it says that you need antiblaxx or sr stop to make it run)
to aladrinkelahn: he's getting that because he messed with registry, has nothing to do with image being bad.

With Sr7.stop I get this error:
Unable to authenticate original disk within time limt. try again?
This is the alchoclone release btw. Maybe try to uninstall daemon tools and just use alcohol.

Deamon Tools/SR7 Sop and Daemon Tools/Anti-Blaxx also both work fine, I've used them both. I don't currently have Alcohol installed as I just reinstalled windows for my hardware upgrade.

Played it.. Nothing special.. I hate the way the dude moves and the shooting seems unrealistic. The pharanormal stuff gets irratating in 10 mins and the game doesnt really show me anything new or make me want to plya it again. Seriously feels like this game is in BETA phase.

I agree on the shooting bit. The pistol for example is seriously flawed. The animation when shooting with the pistol is problary the worst I have seen in a very long time, it's hillarious.

easiest way to play FEAR:
install the game with DTOOLS
=
download this
http://files.cdmediaworld.com/VirtualCDHide%20v1.0.0.4.rar
=
install it and after that you will see some small icon (@ your windows clock )
right click on it and disable all virtual drives...
=
Now go to your FEAR shortcut on your desktop , rightclick on it... go to compatibility and click on run this program in compatibility mode for:
windows 2000...

click on apply and run the game true the shortcut...

Sorry to hear the SP isn't living up to peoples' expectations. I was not too impressed by the SP demo, but I am hoping MP will justify this game (maybe even for buying!). Peace,
