From my sources, sf is really "going down like a two dollars whore".
Expect interesting cracks soon,
I can't say anything more.
I REALLY hope you are right, but it's hard to believe, for me, I'm sick and tired of "rumors" like this: from my sources, SF3 will go down, a friend of mine who has a friend involved with some friends of his who know a guy who knows some other guy who is neighbour of some guy in RELOADED, and this guy heard the cracker yelling happy "Got it, I am invincible, SF3 is finally fucked, I know how to reverse it fast".
Again, I don't say it's your case, but I begin to lose my hopes for SF3 games ever cracked. And seeing that groups are not able to crack SD4 and SR7 games (Advent Rising has more than a month since it was released in stores, and still no bloody crack, Madden 06, MotoGP3 the same), the future is bright. I really want to believe that the low profile the scene had in the last months is due to some intense research in ways to crack newer versions of protections, especially SF3, but...I don't know, I got tired of just hoping!
Good God, I really hope you are right...

Yeah I really hope they can find an fast way of cracking it... on the other hand, if the information the deamon tools team is spreading the world is correct we can always start downloading clonecd versions and play these with all official atches and everything

The guys at Deamon Tools do a wonderful job, but nothing beats the quality of a good crack, as far as I think. In the end is all about cracks, that's competition. Every John Doe can make a clone there is no glory in that, it's Daemon Team's effort in having that clone function, not that fag that released the game. I really want to see real crackers doing some work.

Yup I hear ya man, this is so true...
Cracks -> doing it proud and for the glory
clonecd -> just plain handy if that game needs patching later on.
I see many peeps saying the scene looks dead, I don't think this is true or it ever will be, their are just far less games being released. Gamecompanies now prefer to make less but bigger more expensive games, I think this is also the reason why they care so much about good copy protections like safedisc now.
Personally I think they should quit using those lame copy protections because non is defeatable and they only irritate people who actually buy the games with it. (example: I bought SWAT4 and the lame irriating copy protection is causing the game to bootup alot slower + I cannot play without cd so it's allready a bit scratched now )

OK, I dont know if this is on topic here but sometimes I wonder why many people put such efforts in making SF protected games/releases working. Beside "Splinter Cell 3" there was until now no real "top-title" which was SF protected (what luck...) - most of these SF games are less known, exotic, mediocre... I am honest: for me thats simply too much work to unplug/change my hardware, try all these strange programs (and then there is still only a low chance the game starts...) to make one of these less interesting games working.
Lets face it - all the top titles of this season, from Micro$oft stuff like Fable and AoE3 to Quake4 and CoD2 and Civ4 etc. etc. was no game StarForce protected ... and got released very quickly. So there are enough good games to play without this SF pain in the ass... so why being busy with this SF mess? is it FUN to beat SF or what is the motivation?
So as long the "big" companies still prefer SafeDisc, SecuRom etc. over SF on their top-titles and the clones are working its OK for whoever-wanna-be-a-"pirate", isnt it?
(On the other side I wonder, too, WHY no more publishers use StarForce if its still this pain to make illegal releases working?! Is it too expensive? Or too dangerous? I would be really interested to know if more copies of "Splinter Cell 3" have been sold BECAUSE it was SF protected compared to similar top-titles)

Starforce Frontline 3.07
Completely new protection possibilities:
1. New carrier type - DVD Keyless
2. External Binding. Now you can create your own binding using FrontLine.
New possibilities for DRM:
1. Limited functionality for the protected application.
2. Templates licensing models can be user-defined.
3. Possibility to specify the buy page.
4. Possibility to receive serial number operation reports (via e-mail only).
5. The registry path for the main trial mark can be user-defined.
Improvements
1. New protection against emulators and filters, including anti-filter protection for IDE, USB and IEEE1394. For 2000, Windows XP 32/64-bit, Windows Server 2003 32/64-bit. (There is no protection against emulators under Windows 9x and NT)
2. Disc version interface has been improved; the new messages are now more precise.
3. There is a new key format for CD Key. It is essential for CD Keyless and support of DVD Keyless. The old formats are supported as well.
4. SfUInt classes support has been included. It is recommended for better binding of the protection module.

Since Starforce wasnt able to fix the USB-trick with their own drivers, they decided to fuck up the Windows USB system drivers. If the protection doesnt work the way you want it with the OS, you just change the OS to work with the protection the way you intented it! I ask myself if this is legal, since the patched drivers (usbport.sys and usbd.sys) are copyrighted by Microsoft.
Btw: We are not doomed since their super duper new SF 3.7 version was already used on the Russian game Metro 2 and that protection got bypassed by mounting a mini-image on a virtual drive by simply changing the speed of this drive to 1x with Nero DVDSPEED. Where there is a will there is always a way to play a backup. It seems to me that ones that only have a USB-drive, Firewire-drive or SATA-drives are the ones that wont be able to verifiy their original discs. What a nice way from Starforce to say "fuck you" to the legitimate owner!
Btw 2: Starforce uses 2 different protection suites at this moment. One is for DRM (Starforce Proactive) and the other for CD/DVD (Starforce Basic/Pro/Elite). They just merged this two packets into one for an easier use for their clients. As was already stated on cdsteam they will have to write a new tool for decrypting VM.

The SF3 code is getting bigger and bigger all the time... The new protection versions use so much resources that the computer almost freezes during the disc verification... I've got many games with SF3, and every new version is worse than the previous one... I don't think they can go much further with the current code... Soon the verification time will be longer than the games' loading time...
qwertyqwerty I think it's illegal to mess with the USB drivers without you knowledge... but I don't think there's anything we can do about it...

You mean it works with version 3.7 ONLY? So its kinda bug they probably fixed already.
But the question is: is it possible, for example, install SC:CT or Worms 4 or any other SF3 protected game, then just update Starforce drivers to version 3.7 and use that nice method with 1x speed? Sounds much easier than "Service Pack 2 + SFNightmare + SFcure + unplug shit + alot of luck" combination

The best solution would be if Microsoft would sue Starforce for copyright infringement. And yes there is something you can do, dont buy any starforce-protected products. And if Starforce version 3.7 gets released in Europe or North America ask Microsoft to sue Starforce for copyright infringement and for damaging the good name of their Trademark Windows XP!
