My sister was almost scammed on eBay a couple weeks back, she put her old iPhone 4 up for sale and it went immediately - the seller kept pestering her, saying he sent the money and was demanding the phone otherwise he'd get PP/eBay involved. Eventually PP removed the sale and told my sis that the buy out was done without the account owner's permission - so either hijacked or he basically just lied about it.

Still, unscrupulous bastards everywhere.

Fortunately i've yet to encounter any problems. I'm a buyer though, so i guess from your experiences that i have more protection.

Just got this

Quote:
Shop with confidence on eBay – we guarantee you get the item you ordered or money back

At eBay we want you to shop hassle-free. In most cases, eBay transactions go through with no problems at all. But, if anything does go wrong, we’ll make sure that you get the item you wanted or your money refunded in full, including postage costs.

You’re covered by eBay Buyer Protection for just about every purchase on eBay.co.uk when you pay with PayPal. Exceptions are vehicles and other items that aren’t sent by post – learn what's included.

I can't fathom the type of person who would try and pull a "I have not touched it until now" on a second hand item.

Surely you test it before you buy it, or at the very least the second you have it at home.

I think even if he had paid with Paypal, you only get 45 days from receiving the item to make a claim, after that it's your problem and not Paypal/ebays.
