I can tell you why I registered for beta even though I wasn't interested in a WoWish kind of MMO.
I was hoping to get surprised by something that would peek my interest. Unfortunetley that didn't happen, I uninstalled it 2-3 hours later.
My friend however loved it and is still playing the beta today to it's fullest. He said he's even going to pre-order it because he thinks it's that awesome.
To each his own, I guess.

they are different levels of crappines.
for example :
wildstar is crap because it ask for a premium price and a sub.
is decent if it would have been f2p. (decent not means that is a decent mmo, cause is still crap, just mean that people have lower expectation from it).

I'm not a huge Angry Joe fan, but his opinion in the beta preview is pretty similar to my own. He basically states that people who are looking for a certain type of MMO will be happy with Wildstar, but he personally found it boring, grindy, and of an expected style that didn't bring much to the genre, while having a bit too much forced humor. That's precisely how I'd describe the experience.
So hailey's opinion is technically correct, as is 3dcViper's, although I personally lean much more towards the former. If this is what you want out of a MMO then it's pretty much spot on...but if you're tired of it (and I was tired of it many years ago), there are other options available. Again, not siding with anyone or saying someone is wrong...I just think it comes down to personal expectations.
Also, in response to frogster and the idea that this game hasn't shown great improvement over the last year...well, that's one reason I prefer ESO. In the first beta I complained about crafting, two betas later completely overhauled and awesome. Last beta I complained about no collisions, bam two weeks later (in the current closed beta client) they already have a working system in place. They react very quickly to the community and show the capacity to fix and add shit on the fly (thanks to their moddable engine, despite what the naysayer's claim). That's what I want out of a MMO...not WoW in space (I already spent time in SWTOR, thank you). I know a lot of people who play Korean MMO's, F2P's, etc., who are absolutely dying to play Wildstar, and that's cool, but that's very much not me.

Wildstar has really much content for a release. |
If what you're saying is that Wildstar is effectively a premium F2P game that hits all the typical MMO notes (which also applies to GW2 in my opinion), then I'd agree. I also agree you don't need WoW numbers to be successful, or anywhere close to that. Quite honestly I'm glad we live in a time when we have so many options (although people still complain). Yes, I'd love a truly "innovative" MMO, but MMO by its very description implies a legacy that you just can't shake overnight. Some people love them for what they already are and don't need constant flashes of light to keep their attention...but between Wildstar, ESO, and Everquest Next, I feel fairly satisfied.

He seems to have a bit of an anti-subscription agenda so I can't take him too seriously. Then again, I thought subscriptions were dead after SWTOR, but I've since changed my mind (albeit I'm still very cautious on that). In any case...yeah, it's more original a universe/story than I've seen, although some people love the stock fantasy stuff (I admit to being one of them).

I guess it's only stress test, sites like IGN or PCGamer give away only stress test keys.
