We will not be holding a traditional open beta, but if you sign up to participate in the ESO beta prior to launch and are eligible per our Terms of Service, you will get an invite to a future beta event. We will be holding several very large beta sessions that include beta key giveaway promotions before the game launches. Please make sure to sign up for beta if you have not yet done so: https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en/beta
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
what that means is, that it's just a "very easy to get in" closed beta.
Terminology really doesn't change much. "Open" just means, everyone can get in. But if you give away millions of keys, it's just about the same lol.
easy closed beta? don't think so where is my invite then lol - every streamer and fuckstick that praises for money and likes get one but I did not, so easy for the PTS closed beta? doubt it. I would like to play often till it goes live but probably no chance of that so close to release now.
Right. There's the closed beta, then there's the closed public beta. Not the same thing. They have different builds, restrictions, and durations. Those who are looking for a demo out of the closed public beta are barking up the wrong tree. It's purely intended to gather feedback and technical data from the stress of testers. There are over 4.4 million beta forum accounts and many invites didn't even come with that access, while the closed beta has very few people in it; it's clear that the closed public test is for stress-testing.
Is that fair? I don't know. Personally I don't want to spoil the game for myself so my time in the betas since last year has been entirely on testing. The people in the PTS are veterans who will likely be leading the charge down the road...that is, leaders of major guilds, people who run the largest ESO sites, people who will be making the popular add-ons, and those who will be helping the team develop instances and other content on the PTS after release. If that isn't your role then you shouldn't be surprised that your experience falls short.
You honestly think they pick people like that, come on now... don't be gullible. There are of course like in any beta a set of specifically picked persons be it media/gaming communities/modders... but the majority is still a roll of the dice.
gee all I was pointing out was there are people that play ESO daily not just beta weekends, I really wanted to get in on that but never did, so was lumbered with this weekend bull crap.
Its why I asked if anyone had that access I could use till release

Very good review and a very good point about mmo immersion. When you're questing and you know can get ganked at any moment, it increases the immersion 1000x good old stranglethorn and booty bay is what I'm talking about
For those that didn't know the PTS beta NDA was lifted two weeks ago (minus streaming restrictions), and now they're inviting more generally, so check your inboxes! They're probably still screening to some extent but now that they don't have to worry about the NDA they should be letting in a lot more people.
Really? I thought it was one of the most rambling, shitty videos on the internet that didn't mention chemtrails.
I mean he's right about some things, but way off base about others.
The only thing I didn't agree with was that there shouldn't be a story. But then again, I hate online-only shits anyway, so I'd take a single player game with a story any day. And considering how MMOs are not trying to challenge you with an AI but make you grind for XP, the story indeed does not have any place in this game. The only MMO that doesn't have a "story" but still has a "story" is EVE Online, where the entire playerbase and their decisions make up the story. But that's very singleton instance.

Well, my main complaint with his video is how poorly he made his case. And I think he places way too much emphasis on ganking as "immersion." Not to mention that there have been successful MMOs without world pvp, and even at its height probably somewhere between 40-60% of wow players played on PvE realms.
Hell, I say this as the guy who is usually the ganker.
