another possible fix
1-Download the K-Lite Codec Pack 2.50 ,install it.
Just note that while its installing it will ask u to uninstall some drivers u already have...APPROVE the drivers unistallation...then install K-lite itself.
2- Restart ur pc.
3- In the game options..disable the equalizer.
Run the game..it should work fine , with no sound cuts.
Note: this is tested for Realtek AC'97 onboard audio , but just give a try.

Isnt the K-lite codec pack filled with unnecessairy stuff?
I can recommende SLD codec pack as a replacement for the K-lite codec pack.

I've asked that question twice so far with no luck. Everyone seems to be having issues so they arent any help. I got a lvl 11 home so who the hell knows cause I sure dont.
You cant adjust resources and all that, you can only select the following. Teams, map type, and number of players. Also, once you select deathmatch or the other, you cant change it unless you create a new home city. Guess I'll start a skirmish and set the starting time to the latest and see what i get.

1.01 run without a crack but i can't play online (ip). Say something like this, host canceled the game
"NETWORK AND ESO FIXES
- Fixed a bug in the Unresponsive Player dialog box so that it closes once consensus is reached"

U cant play online with a "warez" version....buy the game if u wanna play multiplayer, its not a bug |

don't usually post in the games forum but i had to for this game... i LOVED AOE2 and was SOOOO looking forward to this game... mannnnn am i pissed... the feel is GONEEEEEE... age advancement doesn't feel like you did anything, the entire game is very slow paced, too few units, short single player... lame skrimishes... just bah... god the fucking title is ruined for me... just horrible...

i have finally got this game working now with full music and no crashes, on map 5 in single player and loving it.
What i did in the end is uninstall all audio codecs that popular video codec packs use, like Divx,xvid, and now only use VLC media player which doesn't take over your system with loads of codecs and plays back all xvid,divx ect,ect.
all working ok now

That Soundfix is a textfile containing this:

yess I have been waiting for this game so much...I got it yesterday and install it, and then I faced a big prob when I started the game I was shocked to find out that my mouse pointer don't whant to apear in the game god dammit does someone knows how to fix this...btw I have played the trial without a problem

do you have any divx codec packs installed, if so unistall them - all of them all in 1 programs, reboot and try again with sound back in directory, fixed it for me
If i install any back the sound goes all out of sync with narrator and disappears again, without them its perfect in sync and remains.
then use VLC Player for your xvid and divx needs as it doesn't swamp your system with loads of audio codecs, which is what this game is messing with

I have 1.01 patch and I have advanced tu age V in skirmish - NO PROBLEM
(when I had 1.00 I allways end game during fort age :-/)
