Yeah, monitor only does 1024x768. I really should consider a larger one, but I really really like this monitor.
The only other option I have is my HDTV, but there's no adjustment for the stuff that goes off-screen on it (that I've found) so a lot of games aren't playable. I'll hook it up sometime for benchmark purposes, though.

Yeah man definately get yourself a monitor capable of doing 1280/1024 at least. Your GPU will benefit the most when the resolution goes up.

Wow, that looks like its running well but I got some poor as results..
Rig:
3.2P4 HT
2Gb 3200
256 6800GT XFX
lowest around: 15
Average: 26
Highest: 49
1600x1200
All on high, no softshadows
Its strange how I don't notice any slow down at all, Ill run it on lower settings and see what I get  !
Dropped the res 1280x1024:
20, 31, 60
Without Volume Lighting res 1280x1024:
19, 33, 59 - slight drop?
Noticed i didnt have FSA on so i put it on x2 res 1280x1024:
17, 27, 60
FSA x2 res 1024x900something
25, 35, 60
Ill play more tommorow

I play all of my games at 1280x1024, and Im glad my monitors native resolution is 1280x1024, fits me prefectly.
As for performance @ 1280x1024 4xaa 2xaf, everything on maximum, soft shadows disabled ... I get within heavy gunfights avg of 55-65, just walking around and doing nothing I get 75-140, so not too bad, I expected alot worse.

What's mine look like? Nothing special... No fancy lights or anything. I do have a Silverstone tj06 case, and it's pretty sweet looking and performance-wise, too, but I really bought it for performance more than looks.

Fear is good,but it is a FPS,what more did one expect? And it did try something slightly different. If it did not then why are many others stating it did? Anyway,this will be my last post on this subject. It just gets really annoying seeing tons of posts about "F*** this game sucks" or "Crap,this game is a piece of sh**". That is all that is seen here. We want reviews or brief reviews even, if you wish to state your opinion. Not just blatant slurs of one line bashing toward the game. But I guess that is all immature individuals know how to do.

Guys - reality check time. Right now we have a good number of posters coming onto the board saying that they are having performance issues with the game. Even when they have good specs or were able to play the demo's well.
THAT's because they have pirated versions!!!
I've check this myself the requirements of the pirated version badly hurt system performance. The real thing works fine on the same PC.
A few things to keep in mind:
Play the demos - if they work fine - the full game will work fine. PERIOD!
This game is VERY bug free. Thousands of hours of QA testing and we will even be addressing a few minor issues with a launch day patch.
Adjust your settings - the game has a wide variety setting that will improve performance on your system.
We have extensive support that will be online when the game releases on Oct 18th!

Yeah, I saw that elsewhere too. I have only heard of a few cases where the demo played better than the 'pirated' version (this includes the early sales, too, apparently) and that was limited to sound not playing right.
Just another load of FUD from a developer that can't believe it isn't perfect.

well when i play FEAR still think that Half-life 2 is better , i mean the maps , weapons , climate , grafics , but what makes FEAR good hmmm let me think hmmm the only 3 good things that are in this game are :
1. Slomo efect
2.meele combat system
3.after battle efects {like the holes on the wall}
but other things are normall , average but on HL2 every little things was great and not so repetive like in this game ...
But this is the first experiment to make a Horror FPS{not with gore like BLOOD but with scaring the shit out of a player } so for me its 7/10

Check sig, at 1280x1024 at everything Max except volumetric lights which is at Medium, and no soft shadows of course.
2x AA, 4x AF, vsync, 60hz TFT monitor.
Min: 16 FPS
Avg: 28 FPS
Max: 58 FPS
38% below 25 FPS
46% between 25 and 40 FPS
16% above 40 FPS
A bit choppy sometimes, but definetly playable due to how fucking amazing this game is/looks 
No one setting seems to do much difference, shadows on medium or maximum seem to do no FPS or visual difference, volumetric lights on medium aint that much of a fps drop, if even noticeable.
And effects and the rest of the settings, no way im dropping them
At 1024x768 it runs like melted butter, but looks oh so ugly.
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 RAM: 4gb Kingmax DDR2 800mhz Video: Asus GeForce 250GTS 1gb Sound: Asus Xonar.

fuck it. my 9500 pro just can't handle the 3rd part of the game. I need a new PC NOW!
I'm thinking of these parts:
Asus A8N SLI Deluxe
Amd Athlon X2 4400
Geforce 7 GTX
2 GB Ram Corsair or Kingston
I can use the Audigy 2 ZS I have now for sound. I also have hard drives I can use. Now I just have to shop around for the lowest prices. It most likely won't be over $1200.
