So after upgrading from Win 7 to 8 and keeping my files and programs, I have a few programs that will not work properly with Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 x64 installed. One is VMware and the other Dolby Home Theatre 4.

With VMware, when I start a virtual OS (Win 7), it will get to the 'Welcome' screen and then show me an error. I click OK and the program closes.

Dolby Home Theatre 4 works but the program will crash after opening and closing it and I get this error:

But the thing is that both work perfectly fine once I have uninstalled Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 x64

So does anyone have any ideas about this?

Edit: Might help to know which versions I have installed :/

You could try that redistributable, it first uninstalls all old versions and then installs the current latest version of each branch. Smile

Make sure both apps are set to run with admin privileges, win8 is quite picky that way.

Tried lots of different redistributables. Also tried running as admin.

Found a fix in the end.. Fresh install of Windows.

Thanks anyway.
