I can see why people are doing these videos and stuff, but anybody who thinks that they will put anything like that in the final product is just a moron. First of all, FB does not control the software developed for the OR, and all the games that are so crappy (i.e. Farmville) are not developed by FB either.

FB has an interest in collecting usage data from people, god knows in which ways especially with the Oculus, and that makes me nervous. FB gets data, and thus earns money, by people actively using their product. There is just no reason for them to make people use the product any less, which would certainly happen with all these IAP and so on many people think might happen.

I am not saying there won't be stuff like this, but it won't be Facebook developing that stuff or actively enforcing this. They might give developers the possibility to do this, but then again this would have also been possible anyway even without FB, given the open nature of the Oculus.

FB is about interacting with people at a distance. The Rift could potentially make that kind of interaction seem more real.

I think it's pretty obvious what they're going for - but having them control the product doesn't exactly fill me with joy.

wonder if dk2 will use the same foam face periphery.... in dk1 it was terrible. The thing was getting dirt, dry skin and dust all over it. It was starting to crack easily and was damn itchy... but I am that person who also don't like headphones with foam pads.

Tho in this case, making this thing with leather would not work too. It needs to be some plastic wth rubberized material or something. It will be difficult to do it right. Sony seems to have it kinda ok

Offer:
I have a three day old Nvidia 3D Vision 2 kit I bought off Amazon for about 150.00 USD I will trade that and 100 bucks cash for a DK1. Any takers? Reason I'm getting rid of it: I am beginning to hate my asus 144Hz monitor. Too small viewing angle and colors suck. I wanted the OR but thought I would grab the wireless shutter glasses and wait for the DK2. Changed my mind.
Any takers? PM me

Here's a good explanation on how timewarp works

really clever hack
this could well be implemented in videocard drivers to generate a smoother framerate
would just have to do something with the ui elements

we do not need sell product with profit, because ad based revenue rocks

we primarily will focus on development on FB platform

after this hard to see standalone games without ads and pay to play... I can already see FB lawyers drafting such rules that it would not be profitable to develop games without FB

fuck this, hope sony pulls better product
