Freelancer was good but there was no first person from the cockpit view, that's what let it down for me.

Yes there was, ctrl+v toggled between 1st and 3rd person views iirc.

You're right, Freelancer was lacking in the true space sim kinda' mechanic, I just really loved the idea that anyone could host their own mini mmo.

And then you have a game like the X series here, with awesome everything, yet single player.

I'm waiting for the amazing combination of the two.. how much would that rock.

Anyone hosting a persistent state multiplayer X3 environment..oh I can dream... Razz

I dunno u prolly knew about that one, how can one not? I find it reaaaally boring, not to mention the fact that a lone man cant do everything you can do in x2, so its x3 for me Very Happy yawhooo

Well that's a little different, that world is mostly player driven and only servers hosted by their company.

It just doesn't have the depth of X series or even Freelancer imo. Razz

Freelancer was, and I still say it, the most underrated game of the last 5 years.

Its a trading sim, and the combat has always sucked in this series, you cannot compare it to freelancer its entirly different.

Its the kind of game where you cannot get anywhere unless you pour 50+ hours trading to build your empire, then you manage factories and buy armadas until your basically in control of everything.

They always looked good, but I never cared for the gameplay.

Are you saying that Freelancer looks better than X2? lol, gameplay is all freelancer had going for it, and it was great.

i would welcome a second freelancer game. but for some reasons the game industry stuck on some uninteresting gamestitles like tomb raider and some other kiddygames.

Freelancer was fun but I miss the games such as Freespace. It was the best deep space fighting game I have ever seen.

X3 will have difrent interface (much simpler) because egosoft will realese it on XBOX.

Yep, Freespace was good. And I sometimes itching to install and play it again. The X-wing series weren't that bad. Damn, I miss some old time space sim.

X-wing vs Tie Fighter was the real shit. Best game in the x-wing series. The multiplayer was really well done.

I just discovered x2 and i really like it but i hope they have done a total overhaul on the GUI for x3 because the lack on mouse-use really gets to me. It's a xbox-menu for a pc-game. Pretty shitty.

Been reading a bit on the X3-forums and apparently they wont release any cockpit-screens, it's supposed to be sort of a surprise.

That's a relief! I thought cause of Xbox users they won't do a cockpit.

Best sim ever: Elite Very Happy

Not only HUD's, one of the dev members have said that the cockpits are very detailed and great looking, like a few months ago Razz
I just hope that the Sectors will be larger than in X2, that was the only reason i didnt quite like X2, because the sectors were sooo tiny, i mean you had every factory and asteroid and ship inside a 1km x 1km area (at least thats what it felt like), actually i'd prefer if it was like in Freelancer, with an actual line-of-sight, because seeing every base when the distances are that small, it just makes it seem even smaller.
