Here's something funny, i tried the same easy bypass that im using for FEAR
install the game with DTOOLS

download this
http://files.cdmediaworld.com/VirtualCDHide%20v1.0.0.4.rar
=
install it and after that you will see some small icon (@ your windows clock )
right click on it and disable all virtual drives...
=
Now go to your FEAR shortcut on your desktop , rightclick on it... go to compatibility and click on run this program in compatibility mode for:
windows 2000...
And it fuckin works but when the game start, that cunt called home and asking for a cd key...and yes i add the line in the host file...any suggestion?

ive added:
127.0.0.1 idnet.ua-corp.com
127.0.0.1 q4master.idsoftware.com
in the #begin of scam sites# and #end of scam sites# so can those entries go anywhere or am i wrong and do they have to be underneath something else?

I got the same prob. and 3,4,5 friends of mine too...

This is wierd !! i started up the game then got to the cd key screen, entered the key again but it refused so i closed it down, blocked the exe. with firewall but now the exe wont start up again just does nothing wont even reinstall just does nothing when you press install.
anyone know wat this is ???

try adding
127.0.0.1 idnet.ua-corp.com

to hosts file

install q4... with d-tools
block internet with ur firewall or just unplug the cable and play with the nfo serial...
easy as that...

For those who got teh game who is calling home, i typed back the same key from the NFO and i got the valid key message and the game start

VirtualCDHide + d-tools + the two hosts entries worked for me. Alcohol did not, sr7.stop did not (only mentioned because I forgot and had it loaded the first time I ran the game), also trying to run the game without any hiding also did not. At least I didn't need to use anti-blaxx... ugh.

to get more FPS unpak in q4base the .pk4 (e.g pak001) files with winrar and put the PK4 files in some dir as backup...
works really good...

installed just fine, but when i try to run the game it gives me a message saying to insert the quake4 dvd ( btw im using dtools ) anyone else having this problem?

Wtf is going on with this release, seriously. It's getting nuked and unnuked to hell. Half of the people say it has a virus, and the other half say it doesn't have a virus. Personally, I tried to install it and my F-secure virus scanner went crazy claiming it has the net.worm thingy which the JPG also points out.

I couldn't get it working with D-Tools (virtual hide, sr7.stop etc.). Installed Alcohol120%, rebooted and Q4 worked.. Oh, added the repointers to the hosts-file. It runs like a hog on my system though.
Athlon64 3200+ @ 2.5Ghz
1Gb RAM
Gainward Geforce 6800GT 256mb (O/C to 385/1100)
X-Fi Platinum
Still tweaking though...

FOR Quake 4 - block this on your firewall: q4master.idsoftware.com / 192.246.40.28 - key check
c:windowssystem32driversetchosts
add: 127.0.0.1q4master.idsoftware.com

Bah cant get it to work, keeps asking for the dvd. I tried dtools, alky, virtual hide, anti blaxx, modding the hosts file... nada.
