with some patience, everyone can complete this game without a broken controller, the toughest bosses by far are the optional, avoidable ones.
I'm still raging at the Smelter Demon
thats why i said complete the game, not beat all the optional bosses like smelter demon without breaking a controller
protip:
Spoiler:
kill the dwarves in doors of pharros until they drop gyrm greatshield, this one has 100% phys and fire defense so you can block all of his fire attacks
Oh, I'm aware of this, but even with the ring that boost drops and the rust coin those fuckers never dropped the shield for me...

i used none of the drop boosting stuff and got it after 10 dwarves on ps3, and maybe 15 or so on pc.
btw, the drop boosting ring guarantees a common drop on each kill, but it significantly reduces the chances of the best/rare drops, better de-equip it there, before you run out of dwarves to kill due to despawning
The activation of VAC for this is really bothering me now.
I use SweetFX and Flawless Widescreen (to remove the crap black bars). FW is now showing in their program, it is no longer safe to use it.
Can anybody say how risky it really is to use?
Or is their a safe alternative to play this in a 16:10 resolution? (Fucking developers not adding those)
Sanchin it's the same as the kick in Dark Souls -> Press forward and R1 at the same time and let go both at the same time instantly. It's very slow compared to the kick in Dark Souls.
Try it some times before engaging an enemy in combat to get the hang of it.
Thats what I'm trying. The timings have to be different than in DS1 in which I had no problems to do it. Funny thing is - when I use W to move forward and right buttons on the controller - it works. Not if I use keyboard + mouse or pad only (left stick + buttons)
these are the standard attack patterns i had on ps3 and pc, he keeps attacking him from behind, hence the ogre does the butt attack alot.
Strange, they never sit down for me, they make a fucking slam backwards and land on their back instead.
The ogre was the same for me. Patience is the key to win if you can't dodge as good as enb Getting him into a buttslam marathon is the easiest way to win, you just should not push your luck to far, because if you get between him and a wall you are basically done.

Uhm, I don't have/had any problems with the Ogres at all. Quite the contrary
It's just that they never did this animation for me.
So I went to the foggy forest...and got killed by some invisible guy? wtf
use a torch ;D
and do what with it? it doesn't help at all..
Wear your heaviest armour, walk along the wall counter-clockwise, eventually you'll find a chest that has a really useful item to get through this forest.
I thought I could take them, didn't do that much damage but then they ganged up on me and the health bar started dwindling down fast.
(Stupid mistake but simple to make, don't get ganged up on.)
Helps if you have something other than a broken blade though, things turned once I got the Heide sword.
(But that was a challenge to get too.)

Anyone tried the Drangleic shield? It seems to be blocking 100% for me, but correct me if I'm wrong. I hate too heavy/too big shields, I only need to block and sparry with mine.
drangleic shield is great, yea 100% def, but stability is obviously not like a greatshield, which you have to take into consideration.
it basically means that a successful block will drain twice as much stamina compared to something like a tower shield or gyrm greatshield, forcing you to evade later bosses unless you have a shitload of fucking stamina.

Spoiler:
Down under the fortress you can find a Rebel Shield - one of the contest winners designs - with really good elemental block chances - fantastic when upgraded - however physical protection is quite the opposite, getting to it wasn't the easiest either but that's nothing new in these games.
I'm relatively early into the game (at least I think) so I guess I will check that Rebel shield when I find it (I've heard great things about it). Also, good thing I've been boosting my END in the last few hours and haven't had problems blocking 3 consecutive hits from big bosses (sometimes 4) so far, but yeah, I guess for the late game bosses that won't be possible.

Is it worth it taking END to 30 or beyond?
i would stop leveling anything in ng as soon as you get diminished returns, as in only 1 point per level.
putting 1 point into end is a waste of a soul level, when you could put 4 points into str or dex.
try to get agl close to 100 if you can, for safer evasion.
Shouldn't have burnt through it as fast as I did, now there's nothing to play until Divinity lol. Guess I could try PvP, it's quite unbalanced at the moment though.
so, it doesn't matter that I stopped lvling @150 ? ...great

Piemanfiddy: Soul level is NO LONGER a factor in matchmaking, PvP or otherwise. It is PURELY based off of soul memory. Yes, a person with extremely high soul level may invade low soul level folks, if they have similar soul memory. Do you get it?
If one person actually thinks about their build and makes a character at SL150 with certain skills they want, their soul level will stay the same but as they keep playing the game their soul memory will get larger and larger. Other people who might have decided to not stop leveling up will still be in the same soul memory range. They will be matched with each other and it won't be a fair fight!
Finally defeated the 2nd boss...i even recorded it XDDDD...How much i SUCK...sadly i had to use a "Human figurine" to recover the health
Yes, i know, i suck

I have Agility at 97 right now, so I guess I'm close to reaching that desired level. Anyway, I have END @ 20 and I read that diminished returns start right there, only 1 pt. stamina after level 20. So I guess I shouldn't be wasting more souls on it.
