spear is easy to dodge from a distance, but do try to take advantage of his inability to defend himself while casting. It will hit you even if you stand behind him.

Not going to bother being a caster if i need to melee with it. Was fine in the beginning to build up, but if this is going on through the entire game, then i'm out. Caster ain't for me!

It was easy when i used gwyrm greatshield or something like that. Blocked all fire damage. I died a few times though, but that was only because of mistakes :/

dont consume them cuz you can trade the souls for cool weapons and shields at the trader in lost Bastille, you just need to un petrify him.
Pursuer's soul for ex can give you an awesome Ultra Greatsword

I'm starting to think that it might be of the PS2<->PC adapter, but I'll only be able to check that on sunday/monday and resume my game in a week from now

Ok, so I didn't play the original that much
*hides from objects being thrown
I'm a little lost on this one.
I'm lvl 20, and spent all my souls points into INT so that I cast faster and more powerful
I noticed that if I continue putting points into INT, then I don't gain anything........so I spent it on armors for defense.......
Here are my questions so far........does a stat like INT cap out that early, or do I need to train somewhere? Where the hell can I buy a better staff for casting? I've unlocked the blacksmith in the first town, but he doesn't sell staffs.

Stats can be raised to 99 but around 30 or so they start slowing down so you get very diminished gains.
(Varies a bit per stat.)
Early on weapons are usually what you find since you don't have access to many NPC traders yet, if you see a enemy with a certain weapon it's almost guaranteed that said NPC will have a chance to drop that weapon, same with armor.
Chests (Metal ones in particular.) or dead bodies are also very rewarding though some of them can be in hard to reach locations or just be very well guarded.
EDIT: Oh and the actual item will have a grade for how well it scales with various stats, from E to S I believe.

raise attunement to about 20, intellect and wisdom to 20 as well. Attunement to get more spells to cast before you have to rest. And you simply need both intellect and wisdom for weapons and magics, and for 20 of int and wisdom an npc gives you a set of armor and a weapon. He sits on a chair in huntsman corpse.

That depends on a few things. Firstly is how much INT you have right now, second is what staff you using.
Although it is the most noticable drop in efficency for Magic Bonus is around 40 INT, in DSII you can go well to 99 INT and still benefit from it. So you can max out INT and will still be efficient with it. The problem is what staff you are using. Because in order to make use of high INT ie.40+, you'll need a staff with good scalling. The starting staff you get only has a C, so by leveling your INT up to around 20-30, you'll see decent gain for it. But once you have past that point, anymore will be considered inefficient.
So what you can do now is either find a new staff that has better scaling, or just upgrade the staff you have now.
The earliest upgrade you get is the Archdrake Staff, you can buy that from the NPC in Huntsmen Copse, which can be assessed after killing Dragonrider. But you'll need at least 8 INT and FAITH to talk to him.
