Calling it the worst game is just an stuck up extremist opinion which you would never be able to argue around with him.
But so he doesn't like the game, so what?

Yep.
"I decided I should learn it better than any other game. I have spent between 300 and 400 hours playing it, running through its escalating levels of New Game+"
Whoever spends so much time on a video game, is secretly, madly, deeply in love with it. Doesn't matter what he says afterwards, when he's just looking for clicks in order to generate traffic.

After 2 hours of tinkering, i'm finally drawn into the game. Haven't died yet, so I guess I picked the right path.
Graphics are satisfactory. I'm only using gedosato for downsampling, smaa, and hbao, as the damn nvidia inspector bits don't work for 16:10
dof is lol, disabled that instantly in the ini.
I haven't played a souls game in a while, so I am a bit rusty and did take some hits, but so far, the first enemies i've seen are easy prey. some zombie knight nubs in majoula.
As in the first game, i'll be going in completely blind. No hints, nothing read in forums, etc.
smoke me a soul, i'll be back for breakfast men

Guys, what mods would you recommend?
I will be playing with K&M so take that into account too and most likely I will be using flawless widescreen.
1) Lenovo Legion 7 (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3080 16Gb, 32Gb DDR4, SSD 1TB +2TB
2) SFFPC (streaming via Moonlight+ Sunshine)

Also there is a ring (at least 1) that helps. You can even buy it, no need to find it.

Actually I didn't know I could hit those orbs, so I just spam effigies and life gems to keep up. Didn't regret it one bit though, turns out effigies and life gems are pretty much useless after first playthrough.

Now what made you draw the conclusion that effigies are useless after first playthrough?

ugh no, they are massively important for any online coop, ie. summoning someone, and also you need them to beat the toughest boss in the game, darklurker.

Umm not really. Unless you die often, you will never actually run out of effigies. Because the stocks will well, restock in NG+. So you get always get more at a really low price. Also Darklurker, you only need it to open the portal, so once again, you only need a handful maxed. And you don't even need to fight Darklurker every playthough.
Then there is life protection rings, dying isn't even an issue.

When I activate gedosato the game looks awesome but it gets too dark in many areas which I don’t really like. Is it possible somehow to disable just this “darkening” effect?

Press 4 on the numpad to disable postfx.fx or what the file was called, anyway it'll disable the post-processing shader which I guess is on by default if you didn't tweak the ini file.
(Which is useful to set a custom resolution and a few other things so I recommend at least checking it.)
3 disables SSAO, 1 disables AA and 2 disables DOF, pressing them again re-enables the effect.
Disabling the effect via the config file turns it off permanently (Or well you can't toggle it in-game.), enabling it means it's on by default but can be disabled and enabled at will in the game itself.

Level 90 something and about 600K Soul Memory.
So far I've found this way more difficult than the first games. The roll timing is incredibly unforgiving (and that's with 20 in ADP), the parrying I cant even do without a parrying shield, and although you dont fat roll until over 70% encumbrance, it seems stamina regen has been nerfed if you do go near that high (just got that cloranthy ring +1 though at least).
I really didnt start dying until the Iron Keep though, i've yet to pass it.

Didn't bother with parry this time. Mainly because there is no way to really know which enemies can be parried and which can't.

also the parry timing varies extremely depending on the type of weapon used against you, it is far more difficult to parry than in dks1 and even des.

Your ability to roll through attacks seems to be affected by equip load even under 70% as well as ADP. The more you're under 70 the bigger the window it seems.

well its official I am the worst pvp player ever!!! Im trying to collect the phantoms beserker blade at belfry but everytime I get invaded I get my arse handed to me on a plate...a faith build really isn't very good for pvp...think ill have to do it offline till I get the blade.
also I wonder if Profound Still works on the darklurker? if it does that fight would be very easy
