TECHNOLUST is a Virtual Reality adventure set in a dystopian Cyberpunk future.
The world and style are inspired by 1980's and 90's Cyberpunk fiction like Blade Runner, Neuromancer and Robocop.
Gameplay is based primarily around story driven exploration. Virtual Reality affords great opportunity for immersive adventure, allowing the player to feel as if they are actually part of the game world. Our goal is to make everything interactive and enjoyable. Easter eggs and references pepper the world to keep the player interested. Clues are discovered and mysteries solved, guiding the player through the rich world and story. There is also a lot of emergent gameplay as a result of the environment design and interactivity. Collect movies and games to play at home, go to the arcade and experience whole other virtual worlds within the virtual world. TECHNOLUST is more than a game; it's a living breathing place.
In the early part of the 21st century, the corporations took control...
They bought our politicians. They took our intellectual property. They sold our world. Some have started to resist. The hackers, the pirates and the phreaks. This is their world now. The world of the electron and the switch, the beauty of the baud. Join the resistance and fight to set the truth free.
The revolution will be televised!
Three major events have shaped this near-future world into the twisted Cyberpunk dystopia it has become.
First was the advent of cheap 3D printing "replicator" technology, allowing anyone to create any product they desired from raw materials.
Second was the rise of fully immersive Virtual Reality, achieved via Neural Implants allowing users to both upgrade their minds with software and to "Jack-in" to a completely virtual world.
And lastly, corporate control of the above technologies as well as most other facets of media, politics and everyday life.
Influenced by science fiction technology like the Star Trek's Holodeck and Total Recall's virtual vacations, TECHNOLUST is a story driven virtual world more than a traditional "game". Emphasis has been placed on environmental immersion, exploration, mystery, intrigue and awe.
Game features:
Designed from the ground up for the Oculus Rift and other virtual reality head mounted display
Accessible and Intuitive control scheme allowing you to play with nothing but a mouse if you choose
Immersive, living, breathing and fully interactive world
No distracting artificial graphical user interface / HUD
Early Access to Alpha and Beta Content* (for those with Oculus Developer Kits)
Worlds within worlds. Many "mini experiences" accessible through arcade machines and in game virtual reality interfaces.
I've gotta say, this is looking absolutely magnificent. Like stepping into the world of cyberpunk from my dreams. Damn.. I HAVE to get me a Rift for this It's on Kickstarter right now and has gained enough funding, raising $46k of the $30k wanted, though with only 3 days left to go it's unlikely to break many stretch goals. Still, there's a demo out for Rift owners (grrr...) to try and people are RAVING about it.
That first video annoyed the hell out of me... overacting youtubers ARGH! A guy constantly raving on that he doesn't know what to do.
On the game itself, atmosphere looks great... On gameplay it's one of those games I need to try myself to see if it's fun.
But urgh at the AnooNiMooz mask! Yes I know where it comes from, but this is clearly a reference to that. It's like flaunting around you are a member of Fecesbook,Twatter or Instacrap Lame!
I don't know, this just blew my mind. I like the Irish guy's video too but it was the content that gets me... it's like the perfect, and I do mean perfect, representation of my cyberpunk dreams. Incredible, simply incredible. I have nothing but envy for anyone with a Rift that can try this
didn't back this one
it's a really, really good mood piece, but there was zero game in the demo
i don't want to back something i know absolutely nothing about, apart from visual and theme
holy fucking shit, i can finally be INSIDE a dystopian cyberpunk universe
this has to be one of the things to cross off my list, i dont have a list, but this is definitely one of these things...
or if on a 3d tv .. its also shows the same effect rift does ...
yea no.
3d on tv is a gimmick, oculus is a leap ahead.
oculus pretty much confuses your brain into thinking its real, you may know its not,
but that wont stop you from feeling fear and shock when falling down in a game or
feeling weightless while flying.
there is really no comparison with a 3d tv.
Can't wait to try it when it arrives, bet its a lot better than 3D TV + Track-IR.. Though i wouldnt say 3D is a gimmick on a TV (or in the cinema). It really gives a great feel of depth and the feeling that objects are "real", really different from viewing it on a 2D screen. And playing games in 3D is far better than watching movies in 3D, imo..
Probably a stupid question, but can the Rift take the place of standard 3D gaming on PC? Or do you still need 3D hardware and monitor, like the nVidia stuff?
er
no
retrofits are almost without exception shitty
only comprehensive mods like hl2vr are any good, and even that is poor level design for vr
it's not simply a 3d monitor stuck to your face with rotation
if you just do that you'll get simulation sickness very quickly and the experience isn't any better than on a proper monitor
without a proper integration it's just a gimmick some people say it is
that's not what VR is
@ all these references. Especially the "Night of the living Dead" ones. Zombie in the barrel with the gas that causes the outbreaks in the franchise and the halved dog. The Atari cartridges.
And yet the "game" is imho just a gimmicky sideshow. Using the Rift for something like ArmA gets me way more excited.

As Sabin said, this is ment to show what they can do and is not even concidered to be an alpha. I personally think this is a damn nice thing to do before you crowdfund it.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.
