runs on this like a fucking dream man so...
xp 3000 @ 2.0ghz
1024mb
6600GT
audigy 1 running open AL beta drivers.
300GB raid stripe :/ 15000rpm
constantly feels like well above 60fps and doesn't faulter in battle. your system should
run it high everything by my standards and still have fluid fps.

I hear ya never finished doom3, Fear and I won't get quake 4, I can't stand run and gun its gets boring like 10min...its a shame because the games looks gorgeous |
Same here. I hated doom 3. I probably played it for about 20 minutes and gave up. It was too boring.
Quake 4 looks a lot like it, but it is more fun, not great, but not as boring as Doom 3.
I guess we all like different games. I love Enemy territory and Call of duty.
Can't wait for Call of duty 2, I hope it is just as good as the previous games.

Athlon64 3200+ @ 2.5Ghz (running stable for 8 months)
1Gb RAM (2*512)
Gainward GeForce 6800GT (390/1100, perfectly stable)

I've tried most things, running latest gfx-drivers (81.85), disabled soundcard completely, changed every setting I could find, deleted the cfg-file and let Q4 create a fresh one, tweaked the cfg-file, killed most services & processes running that's not critical etc. etc.
Yet, people with Geforce FX-cards (and radeon 9x00's) and older cpu's get silky performance @ 1024*768 at medium with most things set medium/high...
VERY frustrating... So until they've released a patch or someone have found out why some people get crappy performance (I've even tried 640*480 with exactly the same crappy framerates) I won't bother. |
If q4 is anything like doom3, it'll be your agp aperature size. In your bios. I also have a 6800GT/A64 combo, and if i set my agp aperature higher than 128mb, doom3 runs like ass. Ironically battlefield2 runs a lot better if i set it to 256mb, so i have to reboot if i want decent doom3 performance. give it a try.

can anyone help please ?
I tried everything , all the different cracks , putting that adress in the host file..
and still whenever I try to run the game , all I get is a splash screen and then it crashes with no error..

Just completed the single player portion of the game on normal difficulty level took about 8-10 hours. The experience from start to finish was pretty decent wouldn't say I enjoyed it as much as playing through F.E.A.R. but once I started I couldn't stop playing until the end just to see how the story turned out. I was hoping Kane's instincts would take over at the end and he would kill all his crew instead predictably........
 Spoiler: | you have a final boss fight which isn't even the most difficult in the game, you destroy the giant brain like thing, get covered in brains and shit. Fly back to your ship to be greated by your commanding officer and crew. Then your commanding officer gets a call.....apparently you have new orders. |

Well, if the public server patch isnt working for you guys, why aren't we using Hamachi, that is always working fine, everyone has some different key's by the keygen of RLD, then it should work without any problem...

whats up with the "keycheck fix" I heavn't installed the game yet because I dont want to mess with setting up a firewall, or having to, will this fix the problem, so I can install it without adding that crap to my firewall or having to unplug my internet connection? anyone try it yet?

setup a firewall? dude, turn windows firewall on or just add the entry to the host file as explain in another thread in pc games tech |

Thanks for the game, ID/Raven and for the crack, Deviance. (I was really surprised, I think it was on nforce forum somebody mentioned that SafeDisc 4.6 cant be cracked...or was that Securom? cant remember exactly...well, now it seems both are gone)
My opinion:
I like Quake4. Its finally a fast, pure, straight, oldfashioned run-strafe-kill shooter in Doom-Tradition. Its the game Doom3 should have been. No sophisticated gameplay, no strategic approach, but pure, quick, adrenalin-pumping shooting fun.
It brings FEAR to shame comparing the performance on medium hardware. Quake4 shows what the Doom3 engine is capable of. Its finally the game with the fastest next-generation-3D-engine - now on top together with Half Life 2.
Well, FEAR has a far more elaborated gameplay, better death scenes and you need strategic skills to beat it, but that does not make it better, only different.
Now we are waiting for Call Of Duty 2 and the winter-shooting-party is saved. Shooters, Strategy, Roleplaying (if Oblivion arrives in time)...enough stuff is here - the winter may come...

I have downloaded the vaseline patch but it did't work here. At the start of the game it keeps asking for a serial (with or without the extra lines in my host file, this is a bit strange).
