You can use it in tight turns to make your nose turn up to keep your plane from descending and to adjust your aim when attacking.
It's not really essential in most situations.
Looking forward to tanks as well, zmed, but even though I've had access for a while I don't really wanna play it when my progress is gonna be wiped.
The progression is a huge part of the appeal in war thunder for me.

Rudders are perfect for landing. If you're coming in too fast, it's a great way to bleed off some speed, wiggle the plane left and right while still keeping the mouse on the runway, and all the air resistance will kill off an awful lot of speed. Not necessary for touch-and-go captures in arcade domination, but can be useful when you're just returning for ammo in realistic and want to be as fast as possible on your approach. Obviously a bad idea if you're so shot up that you can barely reach the tarmac.

edit: Had 2 games, plays pretty fun. its rough though. Like war thunder the plane part was in the beginning. Certainly had potential.
they need to do some optimizing though, it runns pretty shitty compared to war thunder for me
ye it runs worse than plane part, was expected, only issue i have that its same client and there is just one option config, i can run planes on high, and tanks on low-med, but since i cant each separately i have to set both to same low i need to run tanks smoothly ( which looks rather shity compared to those max streams )
Fuck me that took a long time!! Got the 50 kills in 8 short rounds. But getting the 10 wins took 28 rounds! Its now 6 in the morning and I feel like shit, but I got my tanks!!!

Yeah, I downloaded and tried it. Grind is horrible. You need to unlock all the tanks in the previous tier, before you can advance to the next for at least Tier 1 > Tier 2 > Tier 3. Even the individual tanks take ages without converting "free" xp.
Well they didn't do anything about the T-50, that thing is so goddamn OP in its tier. The premium German M4 is really pay to win as well, I mean what the fuck.
Playing in Tier 4 as a Jagdpanther, and the game gets really bad by that point. Supreme stalinium tanks get two spawns while the german tanks have only one spawn. I'm struggling to see how Gaijin thought that this was a good idea from a gameplay perspective. It makes no sense whatsoever since Russian tanks are more powerful.
