BiA, the supposed remake of JA2 isn't even remotely relevant in the thread of another supposed remake of JA2? Come on. Your threshold for accusing people of trolling is set way too sensitively, you must admit that.

No, because you've been trolling in almost every other thread as well. That tells me why you even brought it up, to troll and bait. And I fell for it.

So, the ISOdemo. Very Happy
The game looks nice but it shows this is still beta (which is obvious).
Things that I hope they'll fix are the inventory system, seems like you can carry a buttload of stuff from the get-go (you get like 14 inventory slots which are static).
No ammo and therefor no ammo-types. Confused

They also included a level editor but I'm hoping that they make the game on release even more mod-friendly (would love it if the team from Bear's Pit worked on this).

I don't have any particular attachment to the JA series, so I guess that will go in my favour when I play (the full version of) this when it comes out later in the year Smile

The ISOdemo.
As Prefetian said it still shows it's an alpha.
"Simple" is the word that describe it the best at the moment.

The graphics are simple and cartoony. At places they look good, and in other places scream "mobile crap", especially the abysmal palm trees.
The combat mechanics are very similar to Shadowrun than the original JA/JA2. Which I think isn't bad. Unfortunately your movement range in combat seems to be very limited.

And yeah, so far no ammo/no reloading. I couldn't pick up any weapon from dead enemies.
No description of items, no tooltips.
The AI is simple and just rushes torward you.
You can stand one hit, everything so far - you included dies after two hits.

Enemies can hit you if they see you even if you are behind a wall and vice versa.
But it's alpha...

Some pop cultural references. Your character is called Agent 0047, you can meet Silent Bob.

The game as it is now is missing a lot of features so I wouldn't spend 30-40€ on this just yet.
However grabbing the ISOdemo is worth it, just to see what they've done with the game so far.

yeah im not complaining. I did the first island and its ok for having a look but most features arent implemented yet so i wouldnt really call it playable.

For instance i didnt see any way to heal my mercs yet and since 1-2 shots kill it makes for a short game. Wink add to that no interrupts or anything

And I agree, it's not playable as of yet and definetly not worth the 30€.
Bur I would say it has potential.

While the art style itself looks nice, it isn't fitting for a more serious game like JA normally is.
Looks a bit like a more colorful Silent Storm with updated graphics.

Will still play it, as i am sucker for turn based strategy So Much Win

I wouldn't call JA serious really. If anything it's kind of goofy and corny. ^_^

They are on the right track, i guess. But judging by the state of this Alpha (more proof of concept imho), this game is at least 1 year (i expect Summer 2015) from being a complete game.

I agree with you guys, it's better than I expected despite the really early stage. A lot of vital stuff is missing, there's no customization whatsoever, and there are some serious bugs (I got stuck on the farmer's sector, APs sometimes don't get counted etc), but it has potential. Razz

The combat system works quite well with the cover mode akin to XCOM:EU, and AI seems adequate, even though the camera never focuses on the enemies spotted (not even for a second), which can be frustrating at times.
The cartoon look is cleaner and better than the initial screenshots. I still prefer JA2's style..but I can't complain. So far it's a cute "JA: Lite" baby, with a looong way to go before reaching its final form. *back to waiting*

I regret backing this game. I have a strong feeling it will not turn out to be remotely as good as JA2. Sad

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

I supported Takedown on Kickstarter. Very Happy Total fail, the developer had no idea how to make a video game. Hoping Wasteland 2 is okay but got a bad feeling about it.

I don't think it will ever reach the awesomeness of JA2 because I consider that a mission impossible, but there's some good in this game, imo, even though it's early to tell. It's up to the team, they seem to know what they're doing, but there's still a looong way to go before the game can be considered..a full-game and not just a concept. Razz Let's hope for the best.

I guess. As long as they are honest about it and continue to work towards the game people want and expect, its easier to wait that way.

Release date: October 21st.

I'm not sure about it. Based on that dev diary it looks shallow as fuck. My bet is it will last for 10-15 hours max. Maybe modding community will save it in a few years but I doubt it.

Since I baked this I'll get a code and on the 21st I'll play it. I hope it's good but the game so far looks like it need a couple more months in development. Sad

Edit:
Just got my backers key and installed the latest build and ugh, they have a LONG way to go. But the release is in a week or two so we'll see. -.-
