In 1963, President Kennedy and the U.S. government launched a covert space mission sending hundreds of men, women and children on a century-long voyage aboard the starship “Ascension” to populate a new world, assuring the survival of the human race. “Ascension” is an ambitious original drama created and written by Philip Levens (“Smallville”) who will serve as Executive Producer and showrunner. The series will be produced in Montreal, QC by Sea To Sky Studios in association with Blumhouse Productions. Jason Blum and Mark Stern are executive producers on the project along with Ivan Fecan, Tim Gamble and Brett Burlock on behalf of Sea To Sky Studios. The event series will be co-financed and distributed by Universal Cable Productions and Lionsgate Television.
Well at least the quality of filming and effects seem to be higher than what 'SyFy ' has put out the past years. Not that I have much faith in WrestleStation.
Mediocre at best. Still that's a win for Syfy since I usually think terrible as an initial thought when they are involved.
Very cliche tho, has everything people are getting tired off: Murder so they can CSI, Teens having existential ploblemz, 'paranormal' kid and a bipolar governing setup for scheming and intrigues.
The writing is the worst tho, dialogues feel unreal. Acting... some is decent, some is good and then some of it is quite bad.
The surprise buttsex moment:
Spoiler:
While it makes their whole world more believable... come on either commit to making a proper space sci-fi or maybe not reveal it with your first episode. Because now it felt like the only purpose it had was: let's give you a wtf moment for a few seconds to see if we can hook you if the CSI,Paranormal, scheming or teen drama crap hasn't done that yet.
In the end it's not bad bad, but seeing the trend of TV shows getting worse over time: then it's not a good thing that it started of as being mediocre. But yeah... Syfy channel... it could have been way worse.
everything looks so clean and steril, i mean for 50 years they use pretty much same hardware, those bulb monitors can survive without repairs for maybe 5-10 years, everything from cloth to couches, amazing stockpile they have not to mention people form 50's speak like they were born in 2000 i'm not even saying anything about artificial gravity
sorry there is just too much wrong with it, plus it's a goddamn snorfest
It's definitely one where you need to turn your brain off... things just come to easily/convenient and yeah the whole 50's world isn't that believable. They don't take it serious enough.
That lesbian reveal was cringe worthy, it was a: LOOK WE INCLUDED moment. Really wondering if the art of subtlety is lost on Americans.
there is a difference between turning off your brain and being comatose, i prefer watching stuff while being conscious
I think you haven't watched many shows lately if you call this the need to be comatose There are far worse things out on TV. Especially on that channel.
