The world doesn't need more garbage, we're up to our private cracks in indy games, kickstarters and console ports. We don't need this shit, Egosoft. We don't need it. We're suffocating the joy and positive associations we have towards gaming. Don't you have any professional pride left?
In the future game developers responsible for software releases like this game will be crammed into tiny capsules and fired out into unknown space through a huge solar powered cannon where they'll be some alien race's problem and not ours.
The space cannon will have single, burst, and auto firing modes by the way and each magazine of developer pods will hold 30 pods. Ammunition will be gathered from all over the world, and the general idea is that we will refine video gaming, re-establish it as an art form, re-build it as a cultural pillar, and make developers think thrice before releasing anything at all, especially unfinished games like X Rebirth.

Was there ever a 32 bit version released or just 64?

Yes it was a 32 bit exe, but requires a 64 bit version of windows to run as I recall.
It wouldn't run on my Win 8 32 bit version.
Or did they patch that requirement out JBeckman?

Interesting I didn't know about that and it's strange if it required a x64 OS while the game itself was only 32-bit, how odd unless it was a bug and one of the patches solved it though I don't remember anything like that from the change logs.

Imagine all the cash Egosoft raked in on this based on everyone thinking it was "X4" essentially.
It is a pretty dark thing to do. Of course they knew the status of their own game. They'd been sitting on it for years wondering what to do with it.

"Added shield damage for collisions. "
How the fuck was that not in the game already?

Because it was programmed by the interns, of course.

Excellent. Now I can set it to fly endlessly, after shutting the game down, permanently.

So, how does it perform after the patch - and is it fun?

I'd absolutely love to see internationally ratified online consumer protection laws against full-priced video game releases such as this one.
Egosoft did nothing to warn their own long-time fans and followers of the state of X Rebirth. Quite the opposite in fact, they kept feeding the publics' illusion that X Rebirth was essentially X4 and with the complexity and openness of previous X games.
It would be easy, within a day, for a task-force to build a case and completely destroy a company lying in pre-release interviews, faking trailers and gameplay footage etc. You could get shut down for good essentially.
Some companies get off on selling unfinished games to millions of players. It is a growing trend. Early Access is a gateway to this same practice, although of course, fooling players into buying a full-priced game on Steam, making them think it is a complete and tested product, is far worse.

• New Feature: New start menu scene.
• New Feature: New Steam achievements.
• Fixed icon size in licence encyclopedia entry.
• New Feature: Four new missile types. (FOUR!?)
Priority items. Totally.
They have a long way to go if they want to build this into an actual video game with patches of this size and impact.
It it just a show for the gallery now. They need to show that they're doing -something-.

How is "A New start menu scene" considered a feature in a video game?
I have no idea.

The only companies that would readily succumb to this would be smaller ones such as Egosoft, perhaps Bohemia.
Meanwhile, the real guilty big hitters such as EA would simply stall the case in court indefinitely while throwing endless funds at their legal teams.
I do agree with you though, it'd definitely be sweet to see these lying, conniving, shit-heeled fucks held accountable for once - doubt it'll ever happen though.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Lots of good improvement in this, they just need to continue this until maybe 3.5. But IMO, no amount of improvement is going to satisfy most that were jaded by the initial release.
