But be aware for some of us (me) you will get BSOD eventually from 14.4. AMD is aware of this but they refus to respond to the problem when you send in a bug report. Big ass thread on their forums.
People with much worse specs are running this game without any lag. This is killing me. IF this was on origin I could get a refund but too late for that now.
It's not just the lag that's insane, the audio is really bad as well. |
Ah, thank you, I expected as much. Thing is, since I only have a plebian internet connection, I asked a buddy of mine with Giganaire connection to download it for me. He's on an AMD card and thinks that the version he downloaded is broken. But I suspected it's more of an compatibility issue.
Luckily (dunno if actually lucky lol) I'm on NVidia
Gonna drive over to him soon, doin some "almost" oldschool piracy. External HDD ftw, feels gud men.

GAIZ! I was joking with the Wolf3D one
Thought that was clear with the smiley.
Haven't found a reference to Hitler yet tho, unless it was just in one or two clippings that I maybe missed. I love the whole background story

The sound is completly fucked on 7.1, weapon sounds are more like papercardboard (fear 2 anyone). Even on 5.1 downmixing the sound is off. Wasn't this suppose to have been fixed/patched earlier? I hate the fact I spent money on this game.

Must be a problem on your side. loading times are fast, 15-20 secs or so and its not on ssd, fps fine, no slowdowns, 5.1 sound works fine, eventhough they messed up the soundmixing a bit, turn on subtitles to get all dialogs even in fights

Tried again today. Seems the additional settings option is the culprit. If i set it to anything but low i get purple flickers on peoples faces and such. It worked fine until the train and the alt tab for 30 minutes. This game sure has issues.

I like this game!

I have a question for you. If this is the only game i'm having issues with, and look tons of people in this forum+bethseda+reddit what does that tell you?
If 5.1 sounds just fine, then please find me any youtube video (stereo, doesn't matter) where weapon sounds gives a punch instead of sounding like cardboard cutouts. Sound is decoding from the game then to your audiocard. But since you claim 5.1 is working, you should have no issues showing me a video where weapon sounds actually works one more than 1 channel

PCGamesHardware.de performance test, seems that for the AMD 6000 series and the Nvidia 500 series when you increase the VT Cache setting (To high, since from what I have read ultra requires more than 2 GB VRAM or it's not available.) it takes all the available VRAM thus crippling performance.
Also looks like AMD indeed has some problems (Well it's OpenGL, on a Nvidia optimized engine and Nvidia supported game so yeah.) overcome only by the speed (And VRAM increase?) of the 290(x) models compared to the 280 losing to several Nvidia GPU's, maybe drivers can help with that.

I understand the last 2 ones are a yes, and probably the real strengths of the game among a bunch of weaknesses. I'm not sure about the first one though.

You have a pistol, rifle, shotgun (The early model of that looks awesome.) and a knife with some special weapons appearing on occasion like mounted hmg's you can carry around (Though that limits ammo, as usual.) or say precision rifles and laser based energy guns.
Nothing too awesome but you can select firing mode though usually just semi and auto and such plus there's silencers for the pistol and most common guns can be dual wielded.
(Which I've found useless really, easier to use aiming and shot them in the head.)

Mild story spoiler:
Spoiler: |
The game just took a very Jewish turn.
I reached the sacred vault and when I saw the piece of tech Wyatt was wearing all I could think was "Jewish Iron Man".

I'm digging the game so far, the gunplay is fun and the story isn't too bad, there are some funny moments.

Enjoying the game so far, but guys, is it normal that the textures always look extremely compressed, even on max settings and with VT compression disabled? It's not even the "usual" texture compression like in other games, where the textures are actually low res, here they look like high res textures to which a bad jpeg compression has been applied, ie: snow effect and macroblocking everywhere.
Is it normal?

I didn't notice an obvious distinction between medium and high for VT Cache size.

Megatexture in theory (From what I know.) allows for varied and very advanced streaming of textures with a much larger resolution but it is also compressed heavily and takes a LOT of space to utilize (And creating such textures is apparently very difficult or cumbersome.), Rage source data was around 1 TB I believe and to make a larger visual difference a update to the textures would have been around a 100 GB from what I remember, thus why they added the artificial sharpening and noise filter instead via a later patch.
(Which is in this game as well but with more subtle settings so it's not so jarring when textures are seen up close.)
