When i want to find some Quake 4 servers it cant find any! What is the problem? Is it because i have no punkbuster?

Well i keep getting the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH...allways about 10 mins into the game it comes and i have to turn off my computer...anyone else having these problems?

almost the same here, my q4 won't even startup properly, i get a bsod just after the splash screen shows up.
sys specs:
athlon 64 x2 (3800+)
2gig ddr
gf 7800gtx
running on a server 2003 sp1
already tried out different driver versions, no use.
might be os releated in my case, anyone running it succesfully on server 2003?

what's the use of the widescreen setting, I cant choose any widescreen resolutions...

Bring up the console ctrl + alt + ~
type com_fixedtic 1 and hit enter this will take care of the locked frams in the game and will take out the jerk

Yes i have done that but the patch is a bit buggy. Sometimes i can you it in about 5 sec hanging. An sometimes it hangs on authenticating. Someone posted that the servers with ports 280004 t/m 280007 did't work but there are a lot more servers that don't work. I think only servers without punkbuster work!! |
punkbustered servers also work
and servers with portranges 2800* work fine too here just some laggy servers dont respond at all but i have same problem with original

into your config and you can just use ~ (or ^ on german systems)

get a can of air and clean all the dust inside your pc especially the GPU fan and CPU and heatsink. my system kept crashing and rebooting and i did that and now that never happens.

This is true. The 3rd part of FEAR can't even run on my 9500pro. Quake 4 runs pretty good at 1024x768 on medium quality with everything on except AA. I think FEAR could've been optimized a little more but I don't think Monolith has a genious like Carmack.
The game itself is better than I expected. The monsters are awesome (the running guy with the blade from Quake 1 rules!) The tank parts were a lot of fun also. I'm only up to Stogg Medical Lab so I figure I'm about half way through. I like the faster pace also. They should've made Doom 3 this way.

even tought fear runs flawllesly on my system...maxed out,I still claim that the game is far away from being "optimized".....

CPU : AMD "Barton" 2500+.
Memory : 768MB DDR PC2100.
GFX : Nvidia 6600GT DDR3 128MB , AGPx8
M\B: Gigabyte GA-7VT600P-RZ MotherBoard
Sound: AC97 Realteck 5.1 ALC655 - Audio.

Well I have a 4400 2gig ddr and a 7800GTX and it runs perfect on here. it must by your 2003 (XP SP2 here). |
