Can't face this with 60 fps cap and no SLI support. New NVidia drivers are expected next few days and hopefully a 1.1 hotfix patch and I'll give it another go.

You should go for the sewers entrance if you want stealth approach. But just for the info - the first officers patrols the area to the left including the stairs Wink

I can choose any 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10 based resolution although the game won't allow you to set aspect ratio individually.

If I understood this post - http://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=27288 - it's actually always trying to match 16:9 which is why there's a plugin for that program to override this behavior but that also won't allow you to set a different aspect ratio.

I am unsure about any console command for this as well, r_mode controls everything far as I know and it simply works on a value from (In my case.) 1 to 20 with 1 being 640x480 (Or what the lowest supported was.) and 20 being 1920x1200 (My monitors native and max res.) in Doom 3 and earlier IDTech engines I believe a value of -1 could also be used and it would allow for setting screen resolution manually but it would still try to maintain the default aspect ratio far as I remember.

Yep, visuals wise it's RAGE all over again. But I still keep the hope this game is still much better than that POS (which would be an almost decent game).

the only thing i can say , ID tech 5 aka Megatexture the engine that this game uses is ... awful , for once it takes too much space , and those textures and the performance is horrible ...

but yeah what engine they could used .. Unreal 3 or CryEngine 3

in my IMO they could have and SHOULD USED ... Creation Engine , the same engine used in Skyrim , Fallout 3 , Vegas ... they own internal engine .... but yeah ... they just bought ID and where like "we have this new engine from Carmak lets use it"...

Finally installed and played the game after the most dramatic downloading session that I've ever had.. What can I say, it's exactly what I expected: a competent shooter ('twas about time really) that suffers from some consolitis, but, does many things right in my opinion. Razz

Shooting feels rewarding and physical, with gore and some recoil involved, mouse controls are good (no accelerations/weird stuff happening) and runs surprisingly fine here Surprised (60fps with the details set on high, and drops only during cutscenes, which is.. tolerable).
It's not a looker for sure, but does its job fine, basically a slightly improved Rage. Those 43GB are utterly unjustified, but that's another story.

Level design seems okay as well, apart from some script-o-rama. I wouldn't call this game "old-school" because it would be inappropriate Razz, but it's definitely (much) better than many other dodgy multiplatform shooters around. I like the over-the-top/pulp feel too.
The AI is not exactly impressive..but not terrible either, didn't encounter any awkward moments so far Laughing Everything Went Better Than Expected (like it's been said, avoid the default level of difficulty, it's very easy).

I finally got the game too and have 2 major annoyances already.

#1 Sound is too quiet (low volume), any fix?
#2 There seems to be mouse accel or smoothing and it's not VSync. Any ideas how to get rid of it?

Does the game have the usual console shooter pampering mechanics like enemies taking forever to get in and out of cover with long animations tailored to gamepad aim?

Finally finished and I can say, with absolute certainty, this was one of the greatest SP shooters I've played. Fanbloodytastic from start to finish! This will go in my TopX forever Smile

Gameplay. Perfect gunplay IMO, like a vastly improved RAGE and I can't think of many other games that equal, let alone better, it - everything felt smooth and weighty, plenty of gore and perfect use of (destructible!) cover. The weapons were, for the most part, generic fare but the akimbo gunplay and the LWK really set it apart .. especially the dual Marksman upgrades Very Happy No mouse control issues, everything was great. The levels were varied and with plenty of alternate routes if you wanted to play stealthy, or perhaps just explore every nook and cranny. Not to mention that leaning has been implemented fantastically, unlike 90% of every other shooter on the market. Funnily enough, stealth actually works in this and the throwing knives are a fun addition to the game.
Story. For a supposed brainless shooter, the plot was detailed and the characters were thoroughly believable, making you connect with them in a way not many other shooters do. If I had to compare this to something recent, it would be Max Payne 3; same believable characters, same gritty story, same hardboiled ass-kicking but thoroughly put-upon protagonist. Even the final mission was so perfectly reminiscent of Max Payne 3, right down to the music style. I *loved* the characters, especially the cantankerous Scott, Fergus. He stole every scene he was in Smile
Length. Again, for a standard shooter this was highly impressive, clocking well over 10 hours, not counting checkpoint restarts/deaths. I do recommend playing on Hard or above since the game was pretty easy for the most part, but with plenty of "hunt the collectibles" and an alternate timeline to play through, there's some replayability left in it for completionists.
Visuals. Not TECHNICALLY, but AESTHETICALLY, the level and art design were top notch, especially some of the Nazi creations - damned cool stuff going on in this. It's just a shame it was hampered by fucking MegaTexture .. this game thoroughly deserved a better engine, with proper high resolution textures and dynamic lighting.

Technical. There's no beating around the bush, this engine is fucking bullshit. MegaTexture is fucking bullshit. id software is fucking bullshit for trying to push this broken-ass shit on the world. Performance issues, stability issues (8GB RAM and yet Windows constantly dropped me to desktop with "Windows is running out of memory, do you want to close WolfNewOrder?" warnings, not to mention a few complete CTDs), texture streaming whenever you move the camera faster than an analogue stick could, loads of visual "noise" all over the screen, lousy quality textures, prebaked lighting... the list could go on. id needs to STFU and dump this engine for their games, because it's clear they've lost the touch and have long since been outstripped by vastly superior tech like CryEngine and even UnrealEngine. 45GB for this is a joke - and I'm not laughing.
The AI. It's bad, like.. really bad. Not quite as blind and stupid and pathetic as the earlier video we were all laughing about, but it's close. They take cover and flank you well enough but, like Leo said, it's just a lot of "else if" binary yes/no stuff with the AI. Go in expecting Wolf3D rather than RtCW and you'll enjoy yourself a whole lot more.
Too many fun "set pieces" that were criminally short, reminds me of Call of Duty in that regard. "Hey, let's put the player in a tank for quarter of a mission!" Egh. Either make it part of the actual gameplay or don't bother, because it's a huge cocktease otherwise.
Uhh... um, oh.. the ending. Not even in the same league as RAGE, but still.. I was expecting better.

All in all? This is one of my absolute favourite SP shooters and I fuckin' LOVED every minute. It's also one of those rare games that has left me with that empty... "aw man, now what do I do?" feelings after completing it.

WTF? It seems to be some kind of problem when playing through HDMI
I have AMD R9 290 conected to PC monitor with a DisplayPort cable and also conected to the 42 inch Philips HDTV with HDMI cable
When im run a game on my PC monitor everything is great.
But when i switch my desktop to a Philips HDTV (conected with HDMI cable) and i run a game, some weird stuff going on:
The resolutuion gets super low and in the Game Video option i cant change anything.
When i on PC monitor it says that i have 1 monitor, but when i on HDTV is says i have 769 monitors conected.
Also check out some crazy shit with resolution on a HDTV

When i exit the game, the right resolution of my desktop comes back (1920x1080)

Here are some screens
PC Monitor with DisplayPort cable

HDTV with HDMI cable

Well it appears that some other people also have this problem
Here is the fix:

Go into C:\<user>\Saved Games\MachineGames\Wolfenstein The New Order\base\ and delete the file wolfConfig.cfg
