I keep getting the opposite result, I try to wander around and explore to find various hidden loot and those collectibles but instead I manage to reach the next area and the way back closes forever, I really should try using the map more. Razz
(Or I try to talk to a NPC only to have the level end in one of the many pre-rendered DOF scenes or cutscenes as they're also known as normally.)

(If the game runs at near constant 60 and then drops to 30 during a cinematic moment then that's because it's one of those cutscenes.)

well, i found a solution by testing..

Set the DESKTOP resolution to the res you want to have ingame..no matter if 4:3 or 16:9 or 16:10..

the game then automaticly sets this res in the options Smile so everything is fine now, hehe...

also, i tested some commands and cfg´s..

heres my CFG, works good. 90% of teh time 60 fps stable..

looks awesome and detailed..
Takes about 2sek, when loading the game till you can play. lol.. but its working..

Before you use this cfg, go ingame and set shadowquality to 4k..with 8k, its 7fps for me..
and set max PPF to 64 in the game menue...quit the game.
add the CFG lines.
Start game and dont change anything in the options menue!!!!!

NVIDIA ONLY!!!!

SET to READ ONLY, and no tampering in game options menue or it will use a TMP CFG...

you can set 1024 or more, but when using UNCOMPRESSED textures this is a 100% FPS Killer.. so leave it at 512 with uncompressed Textures, or compress textures and use 1024 or more.. your choice..

shit I'm playing on the highest difficulty and still treating this as a derpeasy shooter. I can't imagine how fucking boring it would be on normal lol.

Yeah, I'm playing hardest as well, like all shooters, about 4 hours in, not a single death. Not even a close call. AI is dumb and predictable as shit, and they barely hit you, if you move even a little bit.

I play it a like a normal gun n run. 15 years ago the hardest difficulty in this would be easy on PC shooters.

Obviously the game is calibrated with controllers in mind. That's why non cover based shooters should be PC exclusive, it's shit otherwise.

i've platinum'd FC3 on PS3. Though some areas needs you to look for holes or secret areas in the map...

so, finished it. Played it in "i am death incarnate" and yeah, most of the game was rather easy none the less, with a few exceptions here and there. Last fight frustrated me to no end tho (second part, obviously) and i toned it down a bit (difficulty) "to get it over with".

All in all, a very nice SP shooter (and we know those are rare). A strong story with a lot of characters you'll remember and you can care for. Lots of great moments (and sad ones, too).

So, I fired this up.

First impressions are something this game is definitely not going to do well in.

Those textures - they've been ripped straight out of Q4, so for that whole "Bad for year X" game thing I saw earlier in the thread: fuck yes, this is 2004 quality, rock on!

Lighting? Where? I don't see it. The one part that made Q4 and D3 impressive was the lighting, the dynamic shadows - this doesn't have that, closest it gets to shadows are some prebaked ones that look horrible in relation to the lights around them. Completely uninspired design. Models? Oh dear. Let's just say that at least those have textures from after 2004, the facial animations are still piss-poor.

And that's not all. See, even though id isn't id anymore, it is still the same studio that did RAGE. Which, for all its epic failures, had pretty good animations. This one? Well....
The NPCs are not attached to the world in any way, they just sort of float and turn. And that results in shit like this:



And then it is the same studio that did RAGE, because it runs like absolute horsecrap without tweaks (thanks JB Razz). It actually stutters on my system (i7-4770K @ 4.6 + GTX 770 @ just under 1.3 GHz core) from time to time. Never mind the fact that it is locked to 60 FPS (and this is the kind of game I'd sacrifice eye candy for to hit 120 Hz), or the 30 FPS limit during the pre-rendered cutscenes; The Last of Us on PS3 ran at 30 FPS with 60 FPS cutscenes, this does the reverse - and it sucks in both cases because it just looks and feels retarded. I'm sorry, but for how this game looks, my system shouldn't drop below 120, much less 60 and the cutscenes shouldn't have been pre-rendered. Before anyone claims that they're not: yes they fucking are, because during the cutscenes there are sudden changes in texture quality, anti aliasing and magically there's DoF present.

Sound is pretty bad too. The guns so far sound like pea shooters, metallic poppy sounds.


So technically? I give it 11 out of 10 Bethesda's, great QA yet again. Keep up the terrible work boys, at least I'll be able to tell which games you published! I suppose we should be gratefruit for having a console and config files!



And then we get to the part where the game still very much is an id game. Just like RAGE, shooting feels good. The mouse is responsive, no acceleration bullshit. The few weapons I've tried so far all had their own feel, even if they sounded shit. It plays fast enough, even though it is in fact Call of Mechanic Nazi Dogs (no AI though Sad). The dual wielding is stupid though; that's something they stole from RotT, but it doesn't fit in the game nor does it work as well as in that one. But the best bit?

Actual health levels + health packs So Much Win
Armour + armour kits So Much Win

Although pressing E to pick them up is yet another new-age bullshit design.

I'm gonna play some more once I'm done laughing at this shit and hope the level design gets better. I can get past how outdated it looks technically speaking, as long as the level design gets better. If they don't want to do proper dynamic lighting, they at least have to put in some bloody effort into their baking. I wonder where those 40 gigs went though, sure as hell wasn't the textures.

I'd give it probably 7.5...It wasn't bad, but I think it's pretty forgettable experience. I must say I enjoyed Wolf 2009 more, probably because of the hub-based level design...But I am glad it came out, I was longing for singleplayer FPS game and it left me satisfied enough.

why do people care about 30 fps in cutscenes ? Those are video files playing ...

also id didn't make this game. It's just their engine that's being used (that's like saying Epic made all the games using the unreal engine, lol).
