Managed to play only 1 hour and a half last night because the kids went late to bed.
The game so far is a hybrid of Heavy Rain/L.A. Noire but in a smaller scale ofc. The story is ok, voiceovers could be better and graphics (PS3) are better than I expected. Afaik the game is just ported to PS4 so the difference will be just the higher resolution.
Need to play more today and dig into the investigation element of the game.
Also I found very good the presentation and the direction of the cutscenes.

So, I got the Duplex PS3 release and was in the process of copying it to my USB drive, but there's a handful of files (no bigger than 5Mb that it firstly says I need to provide admin permission to copy, which I do, but it still won't do it. The files are in BLES01836-[Murdered Soul Suspect]\PS3_GAME\USRDIR\FATEGAME\COOKEDPS3 and are basically 10 .xxx files (all of which have the word SECURITY in their filenames) along with a folder named audio which contains 2 .bnk files. I'm using Windows 7. Anyone got any suggestions?

That probably won't help but for sure the release itself is fine, I extracted it and copied it without any issue on my USB HDD, but that was on OS X. That being said I don't see why it would fail on Windows either...

Does this game have a city to explore or was this post meant for the Watch Dogs thread? Rolling Eyes

So I tried the game a little (till the 2nd scene) and the review above says it all, it's a mix of Heavy Rain and LA Noire, but I'd say add Silent Hill to the mix too because it has demons and a parallel world.

The freedom in this game is artificial as hell and it feels like small rooms / mini levels, kinda like LA Noire scenes or CSI games on PC (if you see what I mean). There is no real sense of freedom at all and the game kinda feels like old school games like the Tex Murphy games (Tesla Effect is very similar to this game), in the sense where gameplay is just for the lol and much of the game is as expected .BIK .BIK .BIK Laughing

That being said, the game is cool so far, and definitely worth a leech, I find it really amusing and graphics are good for PS3, typical UE3 game. Don't expect the game to be any better on PS4 though, the .BIK actually look as good as the game in real time, minus the aliasing, but it looks good enough honestly.

The story is interesting and makes me wanna play it more now !

I won't rate this game so far because it's too early, deelix will do it tomorrow anyway (Laughing), but one thing for sure, the game doesn't feel as polished as my first impression of Mario Kart 8, but I guess it's no surprise for any of you Laughing

So far the game is exactly like I expected, where the story is intriguing : example, playing this for 5min made me more eager to play more than Watch Dogs where the story is boring as shit after 1sec.

great, gonna leech soon.

btw cyclone, as always the one question: how is the framerate? Very Happy
unless the game doesnt involve twitch gameplay and is a pure adventure game, in that case the framerate doesnt play such a huge role.

Framerate is 30fps, but i noticed it to sometimes go to the 20 fps on some scenes, but it was really rare. The framerate doesn't matter in this game, it's an interactive movie... It's more like the CSI games than anything...

PlayStation.Blog: How have the developers at Airtight responded to working with the PS4?

Eric Studer: Without a doubt the power of the platform has allowed us to realize the world of Murdered with an incredible amount of detail. So you’ll see a lot of technical upgrades that will make Salem and the Dusk an absolutely interesting place to explore.

We do have a few DualShock 4 features that we’ve implemented for the game, for instance utilizing the light bar for a few of the different game modes, but at this point we wanted to focus on making sure that the experience of the game translated perfectly to the new hardware.

http://www.examiner.com/article/murdered-soul-suspect-team-tells-us-what-to-expect-on-xbox-one-and-ps4-june

Quote:
While Murdered: Soul Suspect is being released on the current gen Xbox 360 and PS3, the group was most excited about what the Xbox One and PS4 are bringing to the table as a tool for the game. We asked Dennis Price, the lead writer at Airtight what the biggest differences between the current and next generation versions of the game are?

Price: The next gen hardware really elevates the ceiling on how we can push the visuals. We are able to provide a quality much like a high end PC on the next gen consoles. Technology-wise we are able to crank the dial up to 11 on things like antialiasing and introduce DX11 features like subsurface scattering, which the previous gen consoles simply didn't have the capability of doing.

When we asked what sort of functionality we will see with the Xbox One’s Kinect and the PS4’s touch pad and camera, Eric Studer answered the game didn’t have a whole lot of integration with those features.

“For Murdered, we wanted to focus on the main experience of the game. Rather than try to retrofit new features of the Xbox One and PS4 into the game, we’ve chosen to maximize the technology to present the highest fidelity product as possible on those platforms.” Studer said. “In general, I feel like what Microsoft and Sony are doing with their platforms is opening up new potentials for play, and games that are built from the ground up to utilize the functionality of the different platforms and their respective controllers could potentially create unbelievably clever and immersive worlds.”

Time is the main issue. I have so many games piled up and so little time to play that wasting even a couple of hours only to find out it's crap is unacceptable Smile

Have you played it yourself? I've seen cyclonefr's opinion but he was early in the game.

Is it.... err... more 'dynamic' than LA Noire? I loved the atmosphere but just couldn't waste THAT much time on trial and error.

I think I got me some of that Malware. Any file with the word security in it is mysteriously not working properly, can't install Malware bytes, MSE crashes at start up.
