I don't actually think the tie in was needed. Also it is clear that Ken Levine tried to end his Bioshock with the DLC. Which is fine, but it also ruin a bit for me. The Infinite ending was good. It ended very well, it was a good happy ending, just like Bioshock 1's good ending.

Yeah, and DeWitt falls in love with his own daughter and they live happily ever after in a swamp - and he's actually Comstock and the story involves a lot of quantum physics and alternate realities, and....

Oh, they're really nothing alike at all.

@Casus I never got the feeling that Booker fell in love with Elizabeth (or I don't remember). They formed a platonic love and care during their journey. I have not played the DLCs.

ooooooooookay i just finished burial at sea ep 1... and i really didn't enjoy it, to be honest. it missed out on the high-flying adventure type fun that infinite had, and didn't give me the creepy dark atmosphere of bioshock, leaving me to kinda feel an 'ehhh' to the middling atmosphere that i ended up getting...

but more importantly, its story (to me) made no bloody sense. why was elizabeth there? (i mean what was her purpose in going to that reality) why THAT comstock? (why was it so important to target him in such a convoluted way when theres an infinite number of comstocks?) why bother hiring him to find the girl? I mean i get that this versions comstock killed anna when he tried to kidnap her, then 'ran away' to rapture, and i understood what they were doing and why (finding the little orphan girl), but i just dont get the purpose of the entire sequence of events... its story all seemed like a set up purely for the sake of setting up a game, rather than a story worthy of being told.... no real purpose of narrative behind it? what am i missing? this was pretty poor all around, really.

The whole DLC happened because Ken Levine wants to "kill off" or warp up HIS Bioshock before 2K Marin fucks with it again. That is why you'll see zero reference to Bioshock 2 and also the story just didn't have to happen at all. If you can ignore the reason why Elizabeth came after this Comstock in the first place, then you'll have a decent enough experience with the story. Think of it as ME3 Citadel DLC but it's not funny and it's not fan service. Basically it makes no sense but still could be enjoyable by itself if you just go with.

i really liked their relationship - it was... probably the most enjoyable bit about infinite to me, to be honest... its what ill look forward to again most when i eventually replay it - it really had a well-done character in liz.

which is why i actually hated the ending. I felt that all warmth went out of their relationship at the end, it was like she suddenly turned it off and became quite cold and indifferent to booker... really hated that Sad i mean whatever was revealed about their past, youd think the relationship that they'd built would have meant something...

No, this I knew... Even above I state that I know he's comstock!

The bit you just quoted was a separate statement purely about the main game itself, and my opinion of how well I thought it handled the characters and their relationship Smile (only reason I made the post was in response to your quote of Leo's comments on their relationship)

I just felt at the ending (the lighthouse) their relationship changed, and she just felt... colder... to me...

I hated that Sad

I guess we just picked up on different things in her behaviour and demeanour at that point. Not saying I hated the ENDING, not by a long shot, it's purely the vibes I was getting from her that I wish was a bit different Smile

Great game, regardless.

I thought that, for me, it was more a case of steeling herself for doing what she knew needed to be done. Booker accepted his role in the events of her life and realised that he had to sacrifice himself before becoming Comstock, in order to stop it all from ever happening, but that still meant Elizabeth had to kill him -- and I think she was steeling herself to do it. Killing someone you love, or had come to love, has got to require a certain mindset or resolve no?

Either way, I completely agree with; great game, great game indeed.

Is this game done? No more new DLC, no more updates? I haven't picked it up yet. Are they going to release a "complete" edition?

I finally played the 2 DLCS, Burial at Sea Ep 1 & 2.

To make a Rapture based DLC seemed like a no brainer after the tease of Rapture in the main game, but Irrational actually put quite a bit of effort in this.

But how is it in practice? Surprisingly I found this mishmash inferior to both BioShock 1 and Infinite.

Some notes:

- Ep1 is short and forgettable and with a stupid premise and ending. I disliked it. Ep2 continues from there but evolves into something more noteworthy. Namely:
- It becomes very story heavy and it later presents itself as a prequel to BioShock 1!
- High production values.
- My biggest disappointment: BioShock 1 graphical style not replicated very well.
- A single - and very weak - reference to BioShock 2, the Adonis luxury resort can be found. However for all intents and purposes BioShock 2 is being treated as simply not existing.
- You can carry multiple weapons just fine.. proving the limit they put in Infinite stupid.
- There's a Batman vision plasmid that is fun if you are looking to play stealthily.
- There's less weapons and plasmids compared to the main games so the fights are less interesting. The opportunities to use the rails and tears are also few and forgettable.
- Only one Big Daddy boss fight.. lame.

tl;dr It's a goodbye to Ken Levine's BioShock universe. He made sure the BioShock stories with these settings and characters end with this DLC. If another dev team wants to make a new BioShock game they'll have to make up something new. As such a playthrough of it is a must, although in practice you'll keep thinking "man, the main games handled x, y, z much better."

TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

I really enjoyed this game and the dlc's.

Played the first 2 games, kinda enjoyed 2 a bit more than 1 and i found that the story kinda dragged on both anyways and the levels were always very similar to each other.

Infinite i did apreciate the story a lot more, and the gameplay even though not brilliant was fun enough, the visuals were a lot more immersive and diversive and so were the levels imo.

The dlc kinda gave the game a darker vibe as some wanted it to be from the beggining the the first ones and i did enjoy that also a lot.

The beeing said, the first 2 games are horror games at its core, they are good games, but i enjoyed this last game a lot more, i found it refreshing, something different, really felt like i was part of another world/dimension...
