MY RANT - With Spoilers -
(dont read if you havent watched it)
Spoiler:
Im kinda pissed at Hollywood. I mean, not because they didnt take the ending from the novel but they pussied out with their OWN ending.
This adaptation was actually fine, for the most part, but shit went south real fast in the last 30min or so. It kinda felt like that they WANTED to do it but then the studio said : "NOPE, ppl would not be able to handle an ending like this, give them the good old "Everybody´s happy-ending treatment". The fucking ending didnt even made sense, there´s some major fuckup in there, which wasnt properly explained. But hey at least she gets to know him more now, and he gets to bang her more now too + hes not fucking Private Deserter anymore as a bonus.
I even laughed when he went to see her at the end, i had this "An Officer and a Gentleman" music playing in my head the last minute or so
And ofc the fucking war is over with just killing the OMEGA-shit alien, jesus christ..................
Imagine if Hollywood had 2 balls and went for the original novel story, with the fucking perfect ending, or imagine if Hollywood had just 1 ball, and went for their PROPER ending but nope , apparently we cant deal with this. The movie wouldve been easy a 9/10 with either one of those endings
But apart from this last 30min or so i pretty much liked the movie, the humor was fking great ,Bill Paxton was just hilarious and as usual, Tom was spot on.

Well most of the story is different, in the novel theres no OMEGA, every mimic can be a alpha/antenna, so they had to kill every last of them . The problem was that Rita also turned into an antenna resetting the day, so in the end he had to kill her in order to proceed. He kinda inherits her will to continue the fight, and he also joins the US special force unit and he even gets his own nickname "Killer Cage" with a custom paint. It was such a bittersweet ending that fittet the NOVEL perfectly, but ofc this wouldnt work with hollywood. Dont forget this is just a super small summary. I recommend you to read the novel. Think its 150 page´s only and its def. worth it.
Hollywood added an OMEGA (or a King Mind that basically controls all and if it dies then all its forces do also) because its an easy-out like almost all Hollywood-ish movies out there so it brings closure to the audience. A book never needs to do that because its not remotely worried about "bums in the seat" as films have been concerned with since they were invented.
I always found the use of a BORG Hive Mind like a Bee Hive kinda of good/bad.. as good for exceptional coordination of its troops for logistics but also a MASSIVE negative if the Central Hive is killed then all it dies like in the final episode of the 7-season Star Trek: Voyager which I was happy to finally see as BORG had outlived their usefulness.
Still.. in EoT the OMEGA should have been far more protected and I found it odd Cage and his team got that close into Paris without an utter sh*tstorm of attacks from the aliens BUT I gather the OMEGA moves as the mimics/blue alphas moved conquering territory so.. Ah well.. still enjoyed it but yes the Japanese variants always do it better.

well maybe it's because i'm from germany but i'm already used to titles like these. it's pretty common here to change movies titles into something really bad.
but i couldn't care less. movie was pretty good or lets say i was entertained pretty well that's what counting for me.
Because rippers have to wait for the Blu-ray first? Whether it's retail release or BR master from the manufacturing plants. In this case, the retail release is the 7th of October so this is a month early
as far as i understood he kills the omega then resets to the day before even being declared a desertor yet the omega is still dead and them aliens are defeated? half reset? wtf?
