well, after having very low expectations, i just played the alpha for 6 hours in one sitting, which i rarely do nowadays.
the game is fucking addictive, the gameplay very solid, without useless bullshit and gimmicks.
just went on a 1 hour mission with a few other guys in my party, the mission included a nerve-wrecking assault and 2 boss battles, shit was epic and the difficulty is great.
world design is beautiful, you would think at first that travel would be tedious, but all you need is summon your "bike", hop on and speed through the world, jumping off it into groups of enemies and causing chaos whenever you feel like.
i did not expect this, just came back from a very disappointing and horrible battlefield hardline beta, into a beautiful destiny alpha.

well you are always online, so whatever you do, you could run into some other players and help them out etc.
basically there are 3 locations on earth with story quest and sidequests,
1 hub location kinda like the citadel in mass effect, with vendors and other players running around and creating parties, and 1 pvp arena thingy.
i did the main story/sidequests , but it appears that there are infinite/randomly generated small sidequests a la skyrim.
you find beacons to start the quests, they have different objectives like find this, explore that, kill those enemies etc.
overall put in around 6-7 hrs into it, and will probably reach level 8 in less than 20 minutes more (which is the max level for the alpha).
after that i m gonna dick around a bit with some other players in pvp and coop some random sidequests.
overall its been alot of fun even with the limited demo content.

So firstly, let me say I don't play RPG's - not really, except if you consider Zelda an RPG. However, I really enjoyed the 30 minutes I played earlier. However, I've not been following this one much (I watched some videos and thought it looked boring - I may have to retract these statements pronto!).
I think it's not very clear WTF is going on - specially for someone like me who hasn't played this kind of game much. I started on the level where you have to go to the tower. I battled the wizard, and totally mega enjoyed this level (couldn't help but feel it would have been even more fun with a friend or two alongside me). I then came out, visited the citadel type place, got my message and then found my way into a CTF game.
I have some questions:
- I wasn't able to find any further SP / quest based gameplay, nor any other MP game modes - any ideas how I can go into further missions/quests like the first part of the game?
- How do I buy more guns for MP? I assume I also need to buy them for the SP. Do I have to do this in citadel area?
- I hear about there being hours of content in the alpha - there must be more than I've worked out how to see, right?
- Are there death match / CTF etc type games with more than 6v6?
Now for my feedback!
Controls are great, really solid. And on top of that, the sound during that first level where you must go into the tower - it kicks ass! Specially when you see the Wizard and all shit kicks off!
Graphically I've not been as impressed as other seem to be - maybe this is just due to my limited time in the game, or the lack of many "missions" completed so far, but I didn't think it stood out as impressive. I thought KZ4 looked much nicer, personally.
Multiplayer seems fun - I only played the CTF based game, 6v6, which was enjoyable. It reminded me a lot of Halo crossed with the earlier Red Faction multiplayer games - you remember the ones! I'd love to try more of this - maybe with a different weapon too!
