Sounds far too good to be true and I doubt this will ever see the light of day even if it is true. Why would people splash out on new and expensive SSDs when they can give such astounding performance and longevity boosts to their existing ones for free?

One of my SSD made some weird sound a couple of days ago. I was copying files from my external HDD to to it when it froze at 92% and the SSD started emiting some crazy high pitched noise. That was fucking scary and i thought for sure my SSD was dead. First time i ever heard something like that.

Thankfully the drive is still fully functional with no errors of any kind. Not sure what happened but if something like that happen to you guys....well it's gonna make your heart stop for a couple of seconds Laughing

The Crucial MX100 256GB is just 90 euros, damn. Is it a reliable drive? I assume it'll be fast enough. Instead of buying a new SSD for my laptop, I can buy a new one for the desktop and use the 128GB one for the laptop.

It's basically improved M500 with 16nm chips which means it should be fine. I am myself planning to get one as a secondary games/stuff drive. In terms of performance, for a primary / OS drive you could get a better one, just not for that price tag.

Shouldn't it be faster than my Intel 520 120GB considering the size and the newer tech? I already find my current SSD lightning fast.

It most definitely will be faster. There you go, comparison of brand new mx100 256gb with 840pro 128gb that has 2 systems installed and almost 2,5tb host writes.

That simply proves it is THE best bang for the buck right now imo.|

Once they start pushing 100€/TB I think I'll replace all of my gaming storage with SSDs Razz

So far I've around 3TB of installed games. (I hate uninstalling any games Smile )

Currently only my OS is installed on Samsung 840 Pro 256GB , so far I've been very happy with it. 3TB writes on it after... a yearish? (cannot remember at all when I bought it)

Took em long enough to get V-NAND out

Hopefully this means we'll be getting 850 EVO 2TB soon

Maybe I'm crazy but isn't 550MBPS really slow for a SSD?

@JustChris420 I could have swore the one I bought claimed 3gbps
