I too liked the first one more.
Berandal is brilliant, but the focus on the story this much is unnecessary for a pure action film, and moves it more to the direction of a straight crime drama, which is a genre we already have good movies in.
First one was was more "pure" and focused.
It was refreshing that a film abandoned the pretence of a story and just delivered action scene pornography.
But Berandal is still the best action film since Raid 1 and probably holds the title for quite a while.
I really don't see hollywood producing anything anywhere near comparable.
And Hong Kong film scene needs to get their act together again.
This is so good I had to take a break because it was too awesome, couldn't take it all in, will probably watch the uncensored version aswell, incredible movie.
it won't add anything but that one or two extra frames in ultra violent moments... just like when they censored the shitting scene in team america by 80 minutes. nobody missed those 80 cut minutes.
but hey... wait that extra while for that added 1 minute of missing frames
At first I thought they have switched from a pure action packed entertainment the first movie was to a criminal drama (and pretty mediocre btw) with occasional fights but then it turned into a bad parody - I stopped watching when a fight between the girl with two small hammers and a bunch of thugs with knives started + the guy with a baseball bat was dragging it on the ground making this sound...
I also loled how no one used pistols and whatnot, just knives and stuff like that.
I dunno about you lot but this is not what I expected.
Holy shite! This movie turned out to be so much better than I expected. I didn't give a flying fuck about the story for one bit, but the action, good lord, I don't know how they can top this one. It was like taking the action in the first movie and multiplying it 10 times. To be honest, Mad Dog's fight is the only one I can remember from the last movie, but this had so many spectacular action segments. It was way too brutal and gory in this movie. Except for the shaky cam in some sequences, everything else was pieced together seamlessly.
After watching vile piece of garbage like 'The Protector 2', I'm really glad, this sequel didn't fall flat on it's face.
Not bad, especially if one takes into account what was used, spent and the time it took
exactly
Indeed, raw talent at its finest
Speaking of which, was reading the other day that there will be a The Raid 3 (yay), but:
Quote:
I’m not touching The Raid 3 for a couple of years from now. I don’t have any plans to do The Raid 3 within the next two or three years so I’m going to take a break from that franchise for a bit. I want to do some things outside of Indonesia for like two films, then come back to Indonesia and shoot The Raid 3.
