Huh ? There are championships and a career mode, which remembers me Gran Turismo a lot interface-wise (specially gt3 championships with endurance, limited to minis, etc).
Grid Autosport has a extended carreer mode. The AI is pretty good and the races are exciting.
I have played the game on the PS3 and it's a real solid and challenging racer.
There is a very good track and car variation. DLC will also extend the single player experience.
This just might be the first game that excites me for having DLC.
I'm very much looking forward to new tracks and cars and will probably buy a season pass
Besides the career version you can also create up to 5 custom events in the custom race mode.
Each event can have practice / qualify and up to 3 races per event (so a total of 15 races)
Codemasters confirmed that the steam version will unlock on 27th world wide.
The game isn't called Autosport for fun. This game is a direct answer to Gran Turismo and Forza. I didn't play it long enough to judge it but the graphics and framerate (not even sure it's stable 30fps) are a bit dated, I think this game would be much better on PC, just like were Grid 1 and 2.
Are the working mirrors in one of the "mini-expansions"?
Come on, a racing game that has no-working mirrors, even low-res is fine for me, but no....4K textures are more important to lure the fanboys

I know there is a career mode. But I can't see anyone confirm the existence of championships with full rules and points like TOCA 3.

Well the alpha videos had trees/sky on mirrors, surely there is car reflections too on final build? Would be kinda weird not to, now that there is the blurry cockpit with one view closer without mirror and the other one more back with mirrors.
Anyways, not long to go when we shall see what or anything is changed to retail. I will still drive on bonnet, so neither lacking mirrors nor anything blurry inside will bother (but yes it would be nice for others)

It'll go live 9am PST (5pm BST) on the 24th if you're in North America.
To put those textures in perspective: the full Grid Autosport install is about 11 GB. So before the textures were compressed they alone where three times the size of everything else in the game. Now they've been compressed you'll be able to get everything installed and running for just 16gb of your hard drive space.
The high res texture pack will be a free DLC released via Steam on Grid Autosport's release day.

Codemasters tell me that the development of Grid Autosport is PC-lead. “Everything's just a bit bigger and higher res detail on PC,” says Kettlewell. “Better shadows, higher res car reflections – that's something else we've put a lot of work into on Autosport, getting the car paint effect to look as authentic as we possibly can.”
“We're locked to 30fps on console, we're clear on PC,” Moody adds. “60fps is really nice, it gives you a great experience. And, it can be played on a three displays. It has full peripheral support – wheels, controllers...”.
“We've got it running on 4K in the next room,” says Adrian Lawton, Codemasters communications manager.
“The thing about being PC-lead is that in the past we'd think 'Oh we can't do that on console' so we wouldn't do it,” says Kettlewell. “Whereas now the reaction now is 'Oh we can't do it on console but let's do it on PC.'
The game will be unlocked in NA in 4 hours approximately.
2 or 3 days ago Codemasters informed Steam to push a simultaneous worldwide release at 27th. Yesterday they regret (!) it and informed Steam again to unlock the game today for North America. This thing with regional timed releases is beyond ridiculous.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
Pretty much identical scores to GRID 2... Except CVG which rates it far better than GRID 2.
Update: Just read CVG review and it definitely seems like a good, fair review compared to various user initial impressions. A couple of hours left though to test the game.
