If you get successfully invaded you lose all (or a part of) your un-cashed money.

And fuck the stealing of money in this game. I was constantly pulling out 200k from ATMs every few hours and I decided 1/4 through the story to not pull out any more until I beat the game. I just beat it, probably around 40hrs after I initially stopped, and I only pulled out 300k.
Somewhere there is a cap or a reset, I don't know what it was but I got nowhere near as much as I stole |
Like Neon said, I play it on the consoles and I pull 300-500k after a few stealing actions. Usually 400k after a while. No money issues.

Just came back from vacation and I see that the patch came out woo! Wait... the game still fucking stutters, what the shit?
Also looks like I missed a bunch of new mods that came out (guru, reddit?), some that increase performance and make the game look better, and also fix the stutter? trying to play catch up now, but I'm still missing a few pieces. Anyone care to give me a quick rundown?

Mod installed, registry fix applied, commandline switch put in. Still stutters like a bitch even on medium.
Fuck that, not worth the effort for a game I probably won't like due to the horrible driving mechanics and screwed up mouse input mechanics. Shit-delete it is, I've got better things on my backlog

I found that driving from cockpit view is actually easier in traffic. It's like the collision system is not the same and you hit other cars less often when doubling them.

I finished the game but it just sits at the screen overlooking the city. Tried all keys and buttons and nothing happens, just sits there. Anyone else experienced this?
Edit: Nvm had to restart the game for some reason to get the final scene

As someone, who played this through with a fucking controller, which was torture in a TPS, you are completely correct with your decision. There is nothing in this game worth the frustration of shitty controls and even shittier performance. |
I ended up doing the same, despite my attempts to fix/adjust the unfixable. Clumsy (auto)aiming aside, it was really a tedious experience because I could never feel in complete control of the character due to all the approximative movements.
Sleeping Dogs had a similar problem at first, but then the patches fixed the sensitivity issues (also there was no forced autoaim in that game to begin with iirc), and the game became perfectly playable with mouse&kb. Hell, even GTA IV, despite being a shitty port, had proper-ish mouse controls. This one on the other hand, is a complete disgrace.

Good, so I'm not alone.
The performance still boggles my mind though, it's GTA4 in a Ubisoft wrap. Difference between medium and ultra is not even 5 FPS on my system and I've tried all the combinations of the registry, mod and command line switches. Maybe the patch would've fixed it, but after dicking around with it for over 2 hours I had enough. And I'd rather start wearing buttplugs as a fucking fashion statement than pay for a game that may or may not perform like the AAA title it is (price included). AC4 I got via a voucher, but I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it, because the completely senseless framedrops in that would've made me regret it.
And the best part is that during daytime, when it's doing that amazomg 45 FPS on medium, it still looks like ass. When I see this shit next to say, Frostbite that runs at double that FPS, or even CryEngine 3 in its terrible unoptimised form in SC, I can't help but wonder when they're finally going to either fix their engine or license one.

I remembered once I tried it with a mous+kb(because my battery pack for my xbox 360 controller died) and holy crap. I think it was quickest alt+f4 I have ever done while playing a game.

I also tried every possible combination. Worked on it for hours. To no avail.

I don't recommend using it yet, as it contains quite a few annoying bugs. The author said he will be releasing some fixes tomorrow.

The installer for it is a bit buggy so I copied the files manually and it's working fine so far although in my opinion the visual difference is pretty small.
(Some effects got re-enabled but mostly you will just notice the headlight shadows and bloom effect, for DOF I used the normal version so there's no constant background blur.)

The trees should be fixed (They should bend again instead of swaying back and forth rigidly.) but that updated version is also bundled with Maldo's 2.0 stutter fix which adjusts some of the textures so it's a 800 MB download instead of a 50 MB download.
I have not noticed anything odd with the coat myself but I did see a few posts saying how it no longer sways and Aiden not putting his hands in his pockets so something with this mod must be causing that, possibly the windy_city.xml file as I can't see any file that would directly affect those mechanics unless it's something he tweaked in the settings xml.
(I removed that part since I use my own tweaks.)

The game itself is quite a mess. There is absolutly no reason to performance drop. I monitored the performance throughout 4-5 hours of gameplay and what i can say is that ubidudes know pretty much nothing about game optimisation i guess.
Cpu drops are fucking crazy. In fırst part of the city( where we begin at stadium) cpu performance drops for no reason. When i go on foot, i get like 30-35 fps(all settings are low) and cpu usage is at 85-90%. And when i get into a car fps drops like shit. It's like 3-5 fps and cpu usage drops from 90% to 45-50%...
When you go to big part of the city, cpu usage while driving is normal. I don't get much stuttering even though there is too many objects and npcs compare to first part of the city.
