Again exceeded my expextations. I thought they would just put metal rings on them and that would be that. Very nice touch with the glass ceiling. Nice to see such attention to detail without going over the top.
Also, very nice to see they remembered the Blue Danube. It just wouldn't be Elite without it. Now we just need the rest from Frontier 1-2, update the original compositions with orchestration (like the intro) and we pretty much have the soundtrack.
I'll admit I'll be disappointed when you leave hyperspace and there's no Ride of the Valkyries

That's one thing SC seems to have gotten right with their latest Freelancer commercial, showing off the side mounted turrets taking out pirates, heh.

Did that and have no access to Beta. Reason for asking is its very much unclear when "2nd round of private beta test" is. Nothing is called premium beta on any Kickstarter reward.
It might be that the first round is meant to be the premium beta and then second round will be the standard beta, should be in a few weeks if I remember correctly.
(Though it's worded private beta so that's a bit strange.)

Yeah they just sent a email, standard beta (Called Beta 1) will begin July 29th, this current premium beta will run until June 15th and the all expansions pass will also stop being sold on July 29th.

Damn, it seems they are only "point defense" turrets, which fight again missiles only.
Better than nothing, but you must still enter "runaway" mode if intercepted.

Wow, this game sure is going to be annoying once more players get in. It already is filled with grade A assholes.
I still haven't been able to get enough cash together to buy...well, anything of any value really. It is so annoying to get away from that silly starter Sidewinder with its puny laser :/
Dropped out of super cruise inside a station twice in the last week. There goes your cash again, because you'll most likely drop out somewhere between 7 rocks and 19 hard places, breaking your ship before you can even attempt to get out. It'll at least delay you long enough for the lasers to pop out and shoot you in the face.
Got tired of trading for scraps for a bit (see below) so I tried heading to a (low intensity) conflict zone to try and get some cash via kills..nope, there's an eagle flying around, just swooping in for the kill every damn time. And after a few minutes a couple of Cobra's dropped in, clearly buddies since they ganged up on me straight away. No chance to get away.
Crazy amounts of bad pilots who fail to fly *out* of stations, so I've learned to be careful and patient if there's traffic. Flying out of Aulin, see a Lakon fail miserably and bounce his way out; I keep my distance, give him a chance to get outside safely. He finally makes it, I go out and immediately pretty much turn around to head for Chango. Throttle up, boost to get away from the mass lock and hit the hyperdrive. Wait, why's that charging so slo...motherfucking piece of crap Lakon just rammed into me. I think I'm fine at first, but nope, there go the shields, hull starts ticking down. And he sits there watching
Oh well, let's head to some of these unidentified signals then, see if there's anything amusing. Half of them put you in with 3 AI Eagles, so that's an instant boost + supercruise to get away. No matter how bad the AI is, that is too much. Then there's the odd signal beacon series, which are useless right now. And the last kind are the ones where you might find something to scoop up, assuming there's not a group of assholes waiting for you. So that's not a good way to make cash either. At least I did have a funny race to scoop shit up with another dude in a starter Sidewinder, neither of us felt like fighting
The economy is completely broken as well, they need to improve the systems behind that. The idea is that you should be able to tell what you can fly from which place to where by looking at the type of system. An agricultural system should always have decent price on agricultural medicines for example, but because there seems to be almost no control over it all and it being completely player driven, that's all skewed. You'll most likely end up losing money if you try to make sensible trades. Good thing there's sites that are powered by memory reading tools to dump the prices :/
I am enjoying it overall, but these moments really have me longing for an either fully SP experience or private servers where you don't have these dipshits. How the fuck can people camp even in a game like this - I'm just waiting for the 360noscope now
The economy has me _really_ worried though, because they don't seem to intend to change it. They just reset it every once in a while. That's crap.
Humans suck. And when there's a strong online component that actually rewards people for being dicks, it's an inevitable outcome since every single cheeky exploit will be used in order to win (or take whatever the "prize" is).
That's why I completely agree with you when you mention the idea of having a fully SP experience, because that is the #1 reason why these supposedly super-awesome nu-space games have zero appeal on me until they implement a campaign with interesting and varied quests, good AI and story. Online is always quite fun in these games, but it's way more fun if you behave like a douchelord (like in EVE or DayZ for example), and that's something that can either ruin a community, or make it more interesting, depending on the amount of "dipshitness" that you can tolerate. (I have a low tolerance, sadly )
tl;dr: if you're an asshole, you have more fun than normal people xD
Exactly the reason why I don't play online games. People suck. Especially when it's games like this, SC, EVE, etc.. all designed to ENCOURAGE people to be scumbags to each other.
I wouldn't have a problem with it if I was playing with friends. And the idea of flying missions together or escorting each other on trade runs is exactly what I do like. But right now ED has too little for a new player to do much on his own. Gotta be extremely careful and run like a bitch all the time
SC has me less worried at the moment because what they've outlined (yeahyeah, it's not there yet by a long shot) actually were mechanisms to counter exactly this.
Of course, ED right now has a tiny area, once they open it up it will change things drastically. Doesn't change the fact that the economy will still get fucked unless they spend time on it and put some more elaborate mechanics behind it like SC is slated to get.

I had hard time as well.
But once you can get a ship other than the sidewinder it gets better.
And once you got a cobra it was almost to easy, I can do around 28,000cr profit trip from Aulin to Chango with progenitor cells.
Got my Cobra full equiped with class 4 mutlicanon, upgraded hull and such.
Funny things, I am "sadly" no more annoyed by grieffer now
But last time I was idling near chango, waiting for something to happen...
And then I saw an Hauler being attacked by two sidewinder just after he get out of the station ... One boost, some missiles and some multicanon rounds later the 2 "pirates" were back to dust
The hauler came in front of me and gave me some flashing lights signals and warped away...
This was the greater MP experience I had in a game since a long time.
Well, keep the faith, I am sure ED will put some mechanics to make MP experience enjoyable.
And I am more about single player when it comes to this sort of games but now I am afraid single player mode will feel too lifeless...
