Loving the combat in this game. You really have to think about most encounters rather than just blindly rushing in.

4 total, 2 characters you made + 2 companions/henchmen.

(still at char creation Surprised)
Currently there is only Loyal and Random.
Loyal seems pretty boring if your partner just always agress to what you chose in dialogs. Random sounds much more fun, but could it become annoying too after a while?
I don't know men Crying or Very sad

If you're into minmaxing, None is the way to go. Because the different dialogues give different bonuses to skills.

Just went for Loyal personalities. Would be nice if actual AIs were able to get selected. But those seem to get integrated some time later only.

Just arrived at the city and feels very much like Baldurs Gate so far

The combat in this game - so good. It could be reason enough to buy it but everything else is also stellar Smile

I also think the game is AMAZING, and it has soul.

The only problem i have with the game is the framerate Sad

I'm playing coop with a friend and i always have 60 fps, well almost all the time.

Sometimes it drops down to 30, and kinda stays locked at 30 and then rises up to 60 again, maybe 15-30 sec later.

I have lowered almost everything but the resolution. Anyone else noticing this drop in fps?

Or do my comp need an upgrade?

Intel i5 2500k 3,8 GHZ

4GB Ram

Geforce GTX 560 (1GB)

The game is installed on SSD.

So, according to Larian 4 + 2 = 8. OK, glad we got that cleared up. You guys must do math a little bit differently over there.... Very Happy

Without knowing a whole lot about this issue with this game.. Turn off vsync! This is exactly what vsync does. If you can't get 60 it will drop to 30.

In this game do you select kind of main character which is you, and rest are npc you control during combat or your "hero" is whole team ?

You start with two characters that you can customize, then you can find two companions. There are also 'henchmen' which are like companions but without any personalities or dialogues. Larian is also supposed to be patching in more companions at some point in the future.

Seems like every character is "on their own", for example if you control one character some npcs might not even talk to you while simple switch to other unlocks new dialogue options. I suspec its the same when it comes to bartering and other stuff, tho sometimes other characters talk that they noticed something (which is based on perception). You can even separate the team completely and talk to one npc (immobilizing npc at the same time while he is engaged in conversation) while other char will sneak to that npc from the back and pickpocket him. Possibilites are huge, dont know how they even managed to pull this off, the more I`m playing the more impressed I am with those kind of details.

I guess we will know for sure how particular mechanics work in coming months when people will examine all of them. Anyway as long as game wont turn out to be completely crap later on I think we might have a classic one here.

Actually, that's adaptive vsync's feature, Normal vsync + triple framebuffer should no cause this.

I've only played the tutorial dungeon and explored some random places/part of the city so far, but the game already seems to be bloody great, just as expected from Larian. Smile
It's got all the typical traits of the old-school RPGs, with freedom, incredible customization, different ways to approach enemies/objectives, entertaining dialogues, a solid combat system and more (plus, I'm a sucker for turn based combat). Aww yiss.

The game seems very polished too, even though I'm still at the beginning. Went with the rogue/ranger combo, though I'm not sure I'll keep it because I've just realized that I could definitely use more wizardry in my virtual life.

Wow, this game is awesome.
Went under my radar, checked it out because it popped up on Steam and impulsively bought it after reading lots of positive comments about it and... I just sunk 5 hours into it in my first session and I totally love it.
Wish I'd backed this instead of that shitty, shallow Shadowrun game.
Best game I've bought in years.

I'm getting very low FPS with this. I ran the beta at 50-60 fps. Now I can't even get 10-15. I have an i5 2500k with GTX 660 Ti and 560 Ti as Physx with 8GB memory. From the lowest graphic setting to Ultra graphic setting, to every resolution 800x600 to 1080p , It's still the same FPS. Is there an ini "fix" or something I didn't do?

yea my framerate is extremely erratic, my pc may be pretty old but i could play most games so far till high setting (or worst case medium-high) at 60 fps.
this game is stuttering like crazy on medium settings, i m literally playing a slideshow and yet i keep going because its so beautiful and amazing Crying or Very sad
the intro movie took 5 minutes to finish due to the slideshow, even though its only 1 minute long. there definitely is something wrong.

hump halp!

doesn't seem like this is a widespread problem, could be just slow PC in your case. but saiyan23 performance is definitely abnormal because his PC is almost high end.

Awesome game! Especially playing coop it's really fun. I normally don't like turn-based combat at all but here they somehow made it quite interesting.

guvna wrote:

I think I saw in a tutorial at the start of the game that there is a limit to the amount of skills you can learn/use. So I guess that would be due to the action bar?

No idea what hardware you have but one thing that does mess with the game is having forced AA via the GPU settings for either AMD or Nvidia.

Another thing would be a AV program going crazy on it in the background so excluding EoCApp.exe or turning it off entirely for a short while and then playing the game briefly to test if it helped might be something to try.

Right clicking on the exe and selecting "Run as admin" might also help if you have Windows UAC enabled in case it restricts the game somehow but it shouldn't since the game does not save settings to restricted folders or such.

Turning off VSync (And don't force it via the GPU settings.) and changing the game to fullscreen or fullscreen windowed (Borderless.) can help too.

Finally overlays from other programs or injectors like SweetFx or older versions of monitoring programs like Fraps or MSI Afterburner might be interfering and codecs could be what's messing with the intro movie if you have any of those installed but not configured to exclude certain programs.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
