@shole: Maybe a mod will do that? Who knows Razz

I just played the latest Yarr version (had only tried the "playground" alpha some months ago), love it despite the limited contents. Racing with all the aids disabled is definitely not an easy task, since it's less arcade than Flatout and requires much more attention. One wrong turn and it's time to curse at the divinities.
The damage model is bloody sublime, but we already knew that. It's also very good looking, the models and textures are very detailed, although in order to run everything at high framerate a good PC is obviously needed. Razz

Screens pls
(forgive the jaggies but the default AA is pretty bad)

Build notes, got to try new engine version soo. I had no trouble with old on performance, handling or looks, so dunno can it be better now (well they shall surely fix, if not).

edit: Aaaand they fucked up the game.. I Am Disappoint

Handling WAS perfect, why of why did you touch it. Now no matter how much you turn, can just goes straight. Like driving a train, until rear slips. Well at least I'm not alone with this, hopefully they fix it back to like it was ASAP, currently I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, worse than Flatout 2 steering lock. Old engine version handling was sweet like Flatout 1.

Just tried the game out for the first time (latest build). Man that handling... took me 1 race to get used to, but I've got to say: it's not a fun handling system at all.

Feels way too much micro managing for every bump while the AI just flies through most of the bumps. I can get fastest laps and usually position myself 3/4th (max allowed opponents) until some stupid bump or little mistake catches me.
Then it's at the back of the field and staying there because with the damage it handles even worse and AI seems to have less trouble with it.

I'd say they have their work cut out to find the sweet spot with handling and AI behaviour.

Aaand they probably fixed it (got to test it now) Everything Went Better Than Expected

These 2 sound exactly what was wrong with last build, compared to old:

Quote:
- Increased steering angle and retuned controller settings. Especially gamepad and keyboard controllers should be more responsive now.

- Retuned all cars and suspension setups so that the cars would behave more realistically - with most suspension setups the cars now have a tendency to understeer while cornering unless grip is lost, at which point the cars will exhibit oversteer. However, except for the most extreme situations the oversteer should be manageable. In many cases different suspension setups now also have a significant effect on the car handling, so be sure to test them all to find your favorite!

edit: yep it's good again. Car keeps turning now with full lock and not just go straight as previous build and I can drive and have fun with keyboard with cars behaving like they should Smile Time to finally test the new car/track.

Sounds like it would be easier to get some real racing going on instead of the cautious driving I had to do

And that's a good thing!
