ARE YOU FUKIN' KIDDING ME MATE! I'll wreck your face! I hope you have a health insurance because you are gonna need it very soon you hairy pussy! Damn EA cunts, fucking faggets!
Besides, what kind of sorry ass excuse is this " People weren't comfortable with the implications and our rating." ?? Rockstar never cared for their rating in Manhunt for example. Why EA care for Sims? So what if its rated M or AO? Big whoop. Everybody here is old enough to play the game anyway. And its not like we are going to buy it so..

Rating is a very big deal with the market segment they are aiming for. As for Rockstar, they sure as shit cared when Hot Coffee bumped GTASA to AO.

The essence is they know The Sims 4 will sell no matter what, so why not exploit players even more for that extra dolla-dolla? Its the thin red line throughout all games developed these days to make players pay more for less.

Yeah, you have to remember that by being on any gaming forum you basically are a part of a hardcore audience. Most people MAYBE know what IGN is, but they don't care about new stuff because they don't know any better- they see their favorite series with a new number next to it- "oooh, shiny, that must be awesome, The Sims 3 was great".

You have to remember what the audience is here. most of the audience is 12 year old girls. They have the gaming pedigree of rotten cheese. they will buy anything with the sims logo on it. It doesn't matter what's in the box. It could be shit. You could literally shit in a box and slap a sims sticker on it, and they'd pay you $40 for it.
This is one of those special franchises where they basically can't fuck it up. Call of duty is the same way. Tweak four textures, add +1 to the game name, bam $60. Everyone starts dry humping the floor waiting for it.

What's really depressing in my opinion with regards to the new The Sims game is that we'll have to wait 5 more years for upgraded graphics. This exact graphical style will then have been associated with the Sims for over a decade with marginal changes to mention.

What I don't get is that, what is this episode's gimmick?
I mean Sims 2 was a huge step forward and while Sims 3 was more like 2.5 it was still a worthy sequel imo, finally being able to go to town and step out of that restricting lot actually changed the gameplay a lot. But so far - even if we forget that they cut all that stuff listed above - I just fail to see what changed this time?
All I see is "more clever sims" here, more "wacky stuff" there. Just seems like marketing bullshit, but maybe I'm missing something? They can't just release a new game with the same graphics, without adding anything gameplay-changing, but removing a bunch of stuff that was there even in the vanilla Sims 3 game...right? RIGHT?!

Let's start a company that makes a darker life sim inspired by The Sims. Rated M for MONEY, Baby!

they can just look at CoDs/BFs - They are already doing it for years now

I believe that is different. Each episode comes with a small graphic update(?), a new 5-6 hour campaign, new multiplayer maps, some new weapons, etc. and even though I got bored of it (it took me like 2 months to finish MW3, because I always got bored after 1-2 levels and didn't start the game again for days/weeks..) it's enough for most people. They can play the same multiplayer with different maps for years and you know what, good for them. Hell, I played ~500 hours of Team Fortress 2 not long after it came out and there were only 6-8 maps I think.
This feels different. Again, as I've said I feel like I'm missing something. When I look at this game I see is vanilla Sims 3, even less than that. So far I haven't read a single reason why I should play this instead of Sims 3 + 5 DLCs I own, even if it was free. Not even among the "marketing bullshit". It's like they can't even come up with a reason why someone should play this instead of 3.

I will play it because the house builder seems way better than in the previous games.
