Yeah, he's either the coolest guy ever or he's really aware of his shitness at saving penalties grinhurt

He was really angry though. He didn't know about it. Apologized (Dutch) afterwards for getting angry at the staff and kicking a water bag.

Glad we won the penalties though... We feared the worst here with The Netherlands' track record on those..

We got rid of '10 already, let's hope that trend continues Laughing

Re watched Vlaar's foul versus Ureña (98"). We were lucky there.
Also really didn't like Krul intimidating the Costa Rica players.
I think it is bad sportsmanship. So hopefully they are more convincing against Argentina.

So do you guys think that we (i'm dutch Smile ) have a good chance against Argentina? I think they didn't play that impressive yesterday against Belgium but with Messi in their team, they only need 1 good moment to decide the match. Crying or Very sad Also they seemed pretty good at defending yesterday, Belgium had a really hard time getting trough their defence and creating chances...
But hey, it's football after all.. Anything can happen Razz Very Happy

Bwah, you have a really good chance against Argentina. The thing we did wrong was not enough pressure on them and we weren't precise in passing and it was mostly because we were a bit too afraid of Messi and the gang. We missed experience.

Dutch team has the quality and experience, Argentina's fitness is a concern since they looked pretty dead around 70 minutes against us. So if you can pressure them and have them run the entire time, as in don't fall behind so they can't play their defense game you'll do fine.

Messi can always be a problem, but that is widely known so

The Netherlands have a good change, yes. Argentina has a bad defense and their keeper is no big deal.

Germany is also very motivated and confident, from what I saw in the interviews, while Brazil is having morale issues without Neymar... it's really hard to make a guess.

The stats of earlier matches between the teams:
Bra-Ger
Ned-Arg

My intuition tells me that both Germany and Netherlands will win, but then again the ball is round (Johan Cruyff). Very Happy

I'd like to see Bra v Arg and Ned v Ger though (battling for 1st or 3rd places, either way).

Hehe, so he's human after all. And yeah, playing that last-minute card was the only way to break the taboo. Van Gaal is an old fox, that's for sure Smile

What Iconized and monk3y said is true though, Krul wasn't exactly a champion of fair play (but then again, taunting/breaking the concentration is not against the rules..even though it should be Razz)

I think it will be BRA vs NED

I still dont trust brazilian team but despite neymar and silva are out, we are at home.

lets see , anyway this is a very nice world cup, with 4 great teams fighting for the 1st place.

Bra - Ned will be easier for the Dutch than Ger - Ned.
I don't think it will happen though, here is van Gaal's to do list:

wraak = revenge Very Happy

Okay I would like to tell a bit of a personal story. It's about a premonition. It is going to be a bit insane I am afraid.

Quite recently a memory resurfaced, a memory from 2001. In my regular pub in Rotterdam I was watching the World Cup qualification match Ireland - Netherlands and we lost 1-0. My country has had a bad series of qualification matches and this one most likely defeated us from qualification. There was a woman there who started to foul-mouth the coach. She sometime earlier had adopted Feyenoord (Rotterdam) as her favourite club so anything Ajax (Amsterdam) and Barcelona related was bad.

The coach of the Netherlands back then was Louis van Gaal. I found it very disrespectful of her to foul-mouth him. Okay yeah this was a shit series of qualification matches but still van Gaal has had many great achievements as trainer of Ajax. Ajax brought the UEFA cup to the Netherlands in 1995 and they were the runner-up in 1996. If it doesn't work between coach and team of players, things like this can happen. This also reminded me again that your love of a football club or national team should not lead to hatred of others.

I told her and the other people there that: "Van Gaal is a genius, but he is a bit autistic and also narcissistic. That explains why his personality is difficult sometimes." During his Barcelona period a satirical Spanish programme portrayed him like this for example:
Code:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Z2Q-8E07FA&t=137

She foul-mouthed him again by calling him Luis van Gaal (luis means louse). Then I had a premonition. I told the people there: "We are going to be the world champions for the 1st time in 2014 and guess who will be the coach? It will be van Gaal again! Yeah, that will take a while". I probably told some more there, but can't remember.

My rationality tells me this is insane, my intuition and memory tell me it is right. Call me crazy, let's see...

Okay, it would still be funny if I am right, right?
Let's discard the story as fantasy then.
And yeah I am pretty sure that most of the people can't recall things from 2001.

Whatever happens, for me Robben is the best player of this WC.
And Germany has the best collective play for now.

Yep I agree. Robben really showed that he's the best of the entire Dutch squad during the last match against Costa Rica. He was the only one that really made things difficult for them throughout the match and whenever he had the ball. IMO Messi is usually a better player than Robben is, but he's showed less of his quality this WC.

Van Persie is yet again showing nothing of his quality this WC. He kept getting caught offside time and time again. One amazing header does not make a great player... In 2010 and 2012 he was also kept in the field throughout the tournament without living up to his name, while Huntelaar was amazing whenever the coach finally decided to sub him in...

As for Germany... I fear they'll again be the ones to beat us in the finals... They're definitely showing more promise as a team to win it than we are up until now.

Robben has really gotten better with age, like fine wine. Very Happy He's always been an immense talent, but now he knows exactly when it's time to perform a dribble without causing annoying numerical superiority scenarios for his team, and he can measure out the stamina more wisely than some years ago (resulting with him looking "fresh" even in the last 10-15 minutes, when defenders are more vulnerable). Also, he knows all the shady tricks of the trade Cool Face

He could already be a national hero, if only Casillas hadn't pulled off that lucky "no-look-heel-of-god" save back in 2010 Razz. Hope you guys can win this one, you'd deserve it more than anyone else.
