I'll crawl under a rock the day you get within 1% of emotional stability and start being reasonable.

I'm just saying, you aren't the only one who can't run the alpha modules smoothly right now, and that's to be expected. Complaining about performance is a valid thing, but not this early, and that's my opinion - I totally respect yours to be the opposite, sabin.

Actually, they want and expect you to complain about performance. It's part of the process. The only unreasonable thing is to EXPECT good performance on outdated hardware at this stage.
It's laughably unreasonable.
Of course, that's just my opinion.

After seeing how just a single hangar with a single ship runs on my hardware, I really do not waste any time updating SC... Maybe once they add a bit more.

Every month this flares up and I'm hoping they worked on some performance tweaks yet... I guess not
Hangar feels like it's an app designed to melt your GFX card

I am really not sure if the cry engine was the right choice for this game

Dog fighting runs better than the hangar, but you still need to get past that pos of a hangar to experience it

yupp first 200000 people who signed up ( check your UEE citizen number on your account page ..or yor email ,-) ) should have multiplayer and everyone got singleplayer. And as morphi said, its running "better" then the hangar itself and if you hit esc fast enough to get to the mode selection its not that bad ^^
Man in general I do hate the fact that its not running at 60 fps in ultra on my machine but cmon, common sense dictated it would run less then smooth on anything thats older then a year. By 2016 a gtx 880 isnt high end anymore and that one ( or the amd equivalent ) should easily run SC at 60 fps.. maybe not in 4k but....
oh yeah... food for thought.. I wonder how battlefield 6 plays right now, they should come out arund the same time ... *hides under a rock* |
Cool, am #61588
My main concern with Cryengine is, that I am not sure how it will handle net code wise and if it is the best choice for a space game with supposed unlimited size.
The same concerns would've been there with UE4 and so on.
I really hope that the cry engine is intelligent enough to run only the required operations at any given time. F.e. I doubt there is any need for GI or local reflection calculation in space and so on.

Dogfighting Module
As for the engine, they've already changed the netcode significantly. These engines are mostly about presenting stuff efficiently in a visual sense - and the netcode is typically a secondary priority, unless it's specifically created for a multiplayer purpose.
Unreal and CryEngine are both primarily rendering engines, and most games using them have to alter a lot of code to adapt to whatever game they're making.
The CryEngine has been used in several MMOs, including Aion and ArcheAge - so there's nothing to prevent it from being extremely efficient for multiplayer purposes.

This is my feeling exactly, the game is just some visual showcase using brutal rendering tricks that simply aren't necessary for anything other than MasterRace bragging and showboating. Elite Dangerous looks AMAZING and its performance is orders of magnitudes better .. so while SC looks to be the better "game", ED is by far the better experience right now.
And, to echo what you said to me earlier; what game has ran like shit during "alpha, top lel" and suddenly ran 100x better at launch? So CIGShill42 is certainly right about that; come 2016 this will require an GTX880. At least CE3 was scalable and I ran C3 on Medium at 60fps, this is a goddamn joke and with certain people defending it every breath they take, why does CIG need to improve it? They won't. They'll just play the MasterRace card and tell the rest of the 99% to "upgrade or deal with it" just like the fanboys are doing now.
