Sad I want to give my life a turnover and i dont really have anyone to guide or wake me up....

Currently finishing my University title on Computer Engineering. Which is worth jackshit outside my country but i can, supposedly, take an exam and con validate my title in USA etc.

Some .Net courses taken (kind of old.... took them in 2011-12 i think, FW 3.5) and some Oracle PL/Sql Courses... maybe thats worth something.... also some Ethical Hacking courses.

Been working in the local government for 7 years now, a lot of knowledge in Taxes and how they work, 4 of those in the IT area, programing .net vb and extensive oracle coding. Personally i feel a huge lack of ability in .Net as i dont really do complicated work... its always simple applications.

So im pretty close to finishing my University, work seems to be stagnant and i have no hopes in it or this country......

So here i am, confused and lost in space.... i want to go to Canada but that is a black smoke screen to me as i only have Visa and no known way to get there and start a new life. Current girlfriend is a Spanish Citizen (or so it seems) and is asking me if i would want to go there with her (but i have no idea how Spain is, and im actually afraid of that country, with their crisis etc...)

Then theres my lack of confidence in my skills in programming compared to what i imagine the market offers....

So far my current plan is to finish university and start doing courses on .Net, Oracle PL/SQL, learn Java, maybe complete the tracks on some of those .Net Certifications. Same with Oracle. So i can feel more confident.

Will try to work on Unity since i liked programming games in it, hoping to complete a simple game soon to find motivation.

But then im stuck. No idea what to do next, if my current plan is worth it, what about Canada what would it mean for a person like me to arrive there, or Spain if i must.... no idea about it either.

Any tips? Experiences? Guidelines? I guess i need to start socializing more and getting to know the market, ive been pretty pasive for many years, just focusing on University and my work, forgetting personal growth and planning...

This is giving me an incredible amount of stress and disappointment. im already 26 yo, and i feel destroyed with now slow it has been to advance and wake up....

I think you're making the same mistake I did at 24-years of age, which was to become a jack-of-all trades. If I were you, I'd set a goal. For example, look up a job position in Spain, look at the company and what they usually look for, look at the location and the living conditions (is it by the sea, is it a place where I'd like to be for the forseeable future) and then start specializing for that place and that position, either by formal or informal education.

Split up that journey in smaller goals, it's not so bad moving over there and educating yourself there, you can do that. Just set a goal that is something that you think you'd like, what do you want? People who set clear goals and make plans to achieve them have a higher percentage of accomplishing that than those that sort of improvising their way through their lives and wait for an opportunity to arise.

Don't worry so much about Spain, or "is that country gonna be good", anyone can be successful anywhere if you put your mind to it.

Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

Im really decided, so im going to spread out my options.

So far:

- Programming, which i think could limit me pretty quickly and i really want to go past the Programmer phase. Ill start studying towards the MCPD.

But what im realllyyy putting my eyes on is project management, in the IT area. I have taken a couple of courses over my time in the University seeing the PMBOK. And its cool, but i have no experience managing a proyect.

I think ill start reading about Project Management and ill try to learn about it and see if in some years i can work to get a certificacion in the PMI, PMP. Sadly ill need experience and that looks grim.

I think PM could open many doors, as i know programmers are plenty, but PMs are in demand (at least here) that could be a good option if i want to get out of here and escalate my income.

Focus on one thing at a time, pursue your goals and dreams and do what makes you happy. Keep your own best interest in mind, and don't worry if you makes a few mistakes along the way. We all do, and we all learn from them.

You seem very focused and dedicated to making a good future for yourself, and that already tells me that you are going to do awesome.

Most 26 year old are idiots, you are most certainly not, and will do great Wink
