Wonder what the ex-Ascaron devs doing UnBended thinks about it.
(Though I think that's been attempted before such as asking Piranha Bytes what they thought of Arcania/Gothic4 heh.)
EDIT: Might as well put up some more screenshots.
Spoiler:

FWIW Sacred 3 lives up to the Sacred tradition in one respect at least. It is as buggy as all get up.
I just spent about 90 minutes co-oping with a mate we both had legit versions and hooked up thru steam.
In the space of 90 minutes the game lost contact with it's two halves three times and when playing the level 4 boss neither of us had vision for the first coupla minutes just blank screens so we got slaughtered & lost a big chunk of the whatever they are that you get 4 killing things.
The game also locked up a few times leaving one of the players 'paralysed' & copping sword hacks from the enemy npcs until service got restored.
We game online across a range of games & rarely have problems with connections unless the game is at fault.
There is a major difference about the sacred 3 bugs and sacred 2 & sacred. The earlier game bugs were things I always wrote off as a consequence of the developers pushing the boat out & trying some original ideas, but sacred 3 is just a standard isometric corridor game with nothing different to 100's of other corridor games.
The weapons talk & are so lame. My ax keeps saying 'sexy' for some reason when I land a decent smack on a bloke.
There isn't a trace of irony in the remark the talking weapon is neither funny nor astute - lame or derpish would be more accurate.
After 90 minutes my gaming partner conceeded the game was the worst thing he had bought in years of some pretty indifferent games.
So back to POE in the a.m.
Sacred 2 was a very strange game indeed, appearing two years after Titan Quest in 2008, the year before the likes of Torchlight re-revived the genre, and so gaining a bit of a pass for at least being an ARPG in a dry time. It was clumsy in the extreme, with its own peculiar controls (W and S move the character back and forth, but A and D rotate the screen, while movement works on the mouse too), and a ludicrously over-large game world packed with more side quests than you could possibly keep track of. Sacred 3 seems to have addressed this latter concern by killing the concept of a game world entirely.
It’s spectacularly bad. Bad not like Sacred games have been bad before, where maps stopped working or the game just crashed. In this game crashing would be a welcome feature. Here the awfulness is hard-programmed into the code, wilful, deliberate. It’s a series of abysmal choices strung together in a vacuous, tiresome chain of near-identical linear missions. The “combat arts” should have been its defining feature, letting you craft a unique and elaborate fighting style to afford this drivel at least the genre of “hack n slash”. But instead it’s the rusting chassis of an ARPG, after it’s been stripped down for parts and left, abandoned in a disused yard, where it really ought to be forgotten.
I think I'll believe the trailer over some stupid review. TYVM.
Lol, this morning i was about to queue the download but left it after i get back from work. Now im back, one look at one of the walkthroughs - holy fucking goddamn mother of crap. What the hell is this? I thought you guys are just exaggerating with your hatin'.
Fuck this shit. +1 to piracy destroys gaming i guess.
Just watched TB's WTF is.. the game looks like it is made for mobile/tablet and has no depth whatsoever. This reminds me of what bioware did to dragon age 2. Atleas sacred 1&2 were enjoyable, but this junk is a fking joke. Why does this keep happening? Are they only relying on the IP to sell the crappy sequels?
Dont understand the praise around previous Sacred games
Oh, there is no mystery, Sacred games never were that good. But the thing is - they never were THAT bad either. It was a decent hack&slash arpg diablo-clone. This, in other hand... i have no idea what abomination is this.
Had they named it differently, or at least marketed it as a spin-off like Citadel there would be no problems. But nooo, they had to call it Sacred 3, even though they left nothing that made Sacred, well, Sacred.
NDA/Embargo on reviews, Day One DLC,bugs and alluding it's the third in the series...this is a shameful cash-grab even by Derp Silver stadards.

and the weirdest think is that Sacred isnt that big franchise to even be cash-grab especially at that price

One could say that hopefully the backlash and anger will bring some positive outcome in the future, but since the old Ascaron developers are now working for Kalypso, I think it's safe to say that there's no future anymore for Sacred

well, ascaron works on a new title/ip , called "Unbended". A new ARPG.
So that's probably the closest to a successor.
And a funny video from them vs Sacred 3 (in german tho)

I actually kind of feel sorry for the developers over this. I mean, I don't.. they're assholes for making a terrible game.. but.. man, they're getting reamed over this and it was something that many people put many manhours into making and it's getting panned all over the place.
