I don't have Master Race Nvidia or Intel, therefore I am automatically doomed to the 'mid-range' category - and we all know that SC doesn't cater to Mid Range.

still tons of weird gfx glitches though Razz

When I can be bothered I shall record a small clip of gameplay using Raptr as that doesn't affect the framerate usually.

@TheSisko42

I've got a 4Ghz i5-2500k and a 570 (two, actually, but only one works since SLi doesn't work on THE GAME OF THE FUTURE, WOOO! Great tech....) and I can barely scrape 30 on the very lowest visual quality level. What res/settings are you running?

This seems about right...I have the same CPU, also at 4 GHz, except I have a 560Ti and I get 25-28 fps in the areas you get your 30ish.

Not saying I'm happy about it or anything (I'm not...) but just confirming that it's not far from what I get so I don't think there's anything wrong on your end.

I'm not too upset tho since I plan on keeping my CPU for a while but I'll upgrade my GPU with something nicer next year that ideally has 4 GB of memory (mine has 1 GB, low nowadays) and I SHOULD be ok. I better be Razz

Yeah..unfortunately I'm not a believer in "it's beta!!" or "it will get optimized in ze futurez!" so I know I'll have to upgrade (least the vid card) or not play it.

It's awesome though, I lowered res to Xbone levels (1600x900) and now Zandul Swarm runs at 35fps instead of 30fps.

I knocked it down to 1440x900 and it was 40fps! 1280x720 gets me 48fps! It's a miracle!

In spite of the trollface, 4770k is what? 10% better on benchmarks than a 2500K?

Yes, yes I'm back.

In real-world gaming tests? Yeah, pretty much.. if even that.

~edit~

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28517633-I5-2500K-vs-I7-4770K-Gaming-Benchmarks

That's a nice (if not "official", though the same results can be seen from any other "official" benchmark) summary and comparison someone did between the two. Honestly, other than STALKER (hugely CPU bound) and Grid 2 (which seems to favour Haswell procs enormously) there's barely 5% difference between the 2500 and 4770.

I wonder if that will actually be an option/gamemode? Playing as a "soldier" on a capital ship, just boarding/looting?

If you're on a big ship, one with actual room to fight on, and you're there to guard it or whatever: what if nothing happens? Sounds like fantastic gameplay. Maybe they'll ask you to cook or sweep the floor. Very Happy

I think Star Citizen is a complete piss take now.

Chris Roberts is getting worse than the publishers trying to milk people for everything they've got.

He has nearly $50 million for a crowd funded game and now he wants more to sustain his rich ass lifestyle?

They need to show us what the fk they've been doing since the kickstarter ended apart from the unoptimised flight module.

There's only one space game I'm looking forward to atm and that's Elite Dangerous. At least ED is nearly finished and people can actually play it.

I don't doubt that they're actually doing things with the money; but I'm wondering why the FPS portion of the game is kept under wraps even though the company is supposed to be all about transparency.

They're still doing the [REDACTED] for the studio handling the FPS. I don't get it. Why? I think I've seen several reports from the FPS team saying that they're making great progress etc but hardly anything gets shown in terms of proof of concept/progress.

Gaming for rich people aka people with jobs, scares gamers still running on the fumes of their weekly allowances. The indie folks still playing around with pixel art style graphics are jealous as fux of Mr. Roberts. A good example of a website boycotting Star Citizen simply because its funding campaign was successful is Giant Bomb. Http://www.giantbomb.com . There's a guy there called Patrick Klepek who spends his waking moments turning Giant Bomb into his own personal hipster and pro-feminism palace.

I'm pretty sure nobody forced anyone to buy into this game. It needs to be judged when the modules are combined in order for us to see if there's any synergy to the gameplay. I, too, think its pretty fucking ridiculous how much money has been donated to this game: and just think about the funds the game could raise from sponsors/investors in addition if they wanted to. Millions more I'm sure. I don't think the way the game is funded is a reason to boycott it though and I find the actions of sites like Giant Bomb pretty pathetic to refuse giving the game coverage on that basis alone.

I've backed it but not by much, the cheapest game package, I must admit I'm happy to have backed something that now has really solid funding; in a way it gives a feeling of more value for my money through the finished product, or so I hope.

I'm in the category of people who try a lot of games, and sometimes they suck and I never touch them again and other times I'm happy to say I had fun. If this game turns out to suck hard, I've still only spent around 40 bucks. Judging it now though is too soon.

You can't please anyone on the internet. We will always want more. As soon as something rubs you the wrong way, you'll find thousands of reasons to complain about.

I don't want to say more as I already feel like I'd get flagged as a fanboy if I dare defend anything that is not gamers on the internet. But apparently people can't tell the difference between pledges and purchases.
