Well I'm hoping I win that one from the steamgift group, but with my luck this cycle...
Otherwise I'm going to demo it and have some GP2 going on xD

At least you're learning it the proper way. Had to get rid of my wheel when I moved to Sweden, and now I just don't have the finances for a new one, but... Soon... (the Blizzard version of soon that is )

That's a mighty fine setup, congrats! And don't worry about the initial noobness, it's all normal
As usual with new sims, if you don't feel confident enough, start with the helps enabled, slowly memorize the track/braking points and then progressively disable the driving aids until you feel comfortable enough to push the car to its virtual limits. You'll drive like a boss in no time (unlike me xD)

Just don't push the pedal to the metal. And make use of the clutch properly. IMO I'd say turn assists off and drive slow. Then try to drive faster. You'll learn the effects of weight-shift, grip and so on that way, without a magical assist

This!
If it works for F1 drivers, it will work for you... just a bit slower

If you want some single player action, you can try Shift 2, it's basically the only decent option on PC if we exclude Codemaster's games (which are less enjoyable, imo). Just remember to install at least the community patch, career mod and PTMU, otherwise the game will feel a bit too arcadey with a wheel.
@Pumpy: yeah, it all depends on the level of inexperience. I know people who can't even keep the car straight with the helps disabled, people who drive a car in real life

Assetto corsa is great, but id like a sim where i can progress in some way. Multiplayer is not a viable choice atm for me, still trying to coordinate motorsound, shift and pedals
All better pc sims dont seem to have a good sp part, like Forza or Gran Turismo. |
you can complete the challenges in AC, hotlap, time attack, drift. even drag race.
but ya the career mode is not there yet.

Just imagine if they will delay the official release date because the career and other contents aren't ready yet. I'm not sure I'll be able to handle it
I still enjoy AC a lot, especially with all the recent mods/new tracks available, but I really need this. I was quite sceptical at first, but looks like the improvements/progresses have been huge, from Shifty feel to proper sim, more polished everything and so on. *starts building a time machine*
