I dunno about well equipped characters coz I'm not  ) so i can't really say anything about that. if you are not careful you can get ur ass kicked by animal, but mostly when there is a whole group involved.But I have shitty equipment and Im still using the sword I had in the beginning of the game rofl.

You can't faceroll any opponents in this game, so you have to be engaged in combat all the way through. However, if you are even a little bit decent, then you can learn and then kill each opponent with relative ease. Even, when there's many of them - and no, dodge isn't your only solution.

Just for info, I use
Brightness -0.2
Contrast -0.2
Gamma +0.2
And I find the image much better. Normal Contrast gives me eyecancer.

I'm currently on the guardians island and I think it looks OK.AT least at night lol I haven't tested it yet during the daytime.
PS is there any sweetfx preset?

I used to do that with Risen 2, but I kind of gave up because everytime I would change location I would have to change the settings as well.

So, melee combat experts..do tell me how should I fight , say, 4+ large spiders or whatever they are (the ones who jump-attack and spit acid\poison)
I must confess without Bones I would die lots of time. I have no magic atm and most enemies are very fast, they all try to gangbang you right away simultaneously.. I do know about timing attacks but hey..when you are getting attacked and FAST from different directions.. doesn't help much.
I spend most of the time dodging when I have encounters like this and Bones kill enemies lol ..
any tips?

Is there a way to zoom the camera in and out with 360 gamepad? You can do it with a mouse wheel, but I'd prefer to use the controller instead. I know that in Risen 2 it was possible, but now you can only click right thumbstick down 3 times and that's it...

They're pretty hard actually so no surprise you have problems. Usually dodging, pistol to the face and always fighting with a good sword with strong attacks (even pressing it just a millisecond long enough ends up being a hard strike) in between their 3 times attack move should do them good damage, pick them off one by one, it's hard but you need to. Followers are essential in such fights.

I'd rate it 5 or 6 also. The magic and passion from Gothic games is totally gone and no matter where you look it looks like such a lazy copy & paste of Risen 2: uninspired menus, amateurish animations, terrible combat system, awful storyline, even Patty... Some things manage to be even worse like the main character's voice, which sounds absolutely ridiculous.
Still not as bad as Gothic 4, but it's getting pretty close. They need to come up with something totally new, because this utterly boring pirate shit is not working at all...
