Damnit what did I link to, this should be the correct comparison post for before and after the update.

But yes 2033 now looks like Last Light and Last Light looks like, well similar to how it did but with global illumination support, somewhat better lighting but also a bit brighter.

Just tried the first three chapters of the Redux'd 2033, it was..well what I expected.
Haven't had the chance to panther around much yet since there's a lot of plain shooting at the beginning, but the first thing that I noticed is that everything feels just like LL now (duh!), including the weapons, movements, sounds, even voices and obviously the interface too. It's "less rough" overall, but I'm not 100% sure it's a good thing.
I'm playing Survival for the obvious reasons, plus I went for the ranger mode (not ranger hardcore though), but I have to admit, it's a tad hit and miss. I usually like the lack of HUD, but somehow the linear nature of these games doesn't make it essential (that's because the default interface is already rather non-invasive to begin with).
The art style has changed as well (different -slightly brighter- lighting, effects), but it's still familiar. Runs decently here on high/physx disabled, I'd say the performance is close to LL vanilla for me and generally better than the original game, even though unfortunately not 60fps good. *feels puny men*

One thing I didn't like about LL was the interface, those fucking big icons, bah!
How is loot handled? Same as in LL - e.g. one click to loot all?

Supposedly LL Redux does use PhysX 3.x, so it'll at least be interesting to see which version and to what extent Nvidia actually fixed their shit (3.0 is still rather useless, but starting with 3.1 supposedly CPU scaling is much better).

This version is superior to the original 2nd to none. Sure some of the particles seems to have been lessen but it runs a lot better and the texture/animation upgrades are worth it.
Regarding Radeonpro, remember the day I spotted the application, it was a true revolution compared to catalyst 1997 software. Then after awhile RP stopped working, googling turned me me to their main forum. The dev and his "fans" blamed on windows services, tried all their suggestions, ended up re-installing the application everytime it magically stopped working.
Then a lot of games simply just didn't work with RP or vsync etc. When the main dev was asked to release the source code since RP is now DEAD he refused...... Now i've had RP uninstalled for months, it's not worth the pain in my book
I have a 7950, can play redux on high 60fps, very high is not an option for me (low fps).
Since Witcher 3 is lurking around the corner, what would be a MAJOR upgrade for a 7950 that doesn't cost like a fucking titan
I don't want SLI/crossfire (too many forum posts about issues on games not support/badly dual gpus) just a major single GPU that's 40%+ better than my current one.
Thanks

Seems the game engine was further overhauled and not only is it now 64-bit, it also seems to require some newer SSE instruction support so some older (But still OK for gaming and such.) AMD CPU's won't work with the game.
(Thus why it crashes.)

That's why I could never finish the first game, even a monster spec wouldn't run it smoothly. The 2nd game on the other hand performed beautifully.

Yeah, the interface is identical as far as I can see. It's 100% Last Light, only with Metro 2033's contents. Though you can always choose the Ranger mode, and avoid the HUD completely.

You should definitely try this Redux version then, the new engine is generally smoother and framerate drops aren't too frequent (as long as you don't exaggerate with the settings, that is )

Weird, the first game always ran really well for me, with the current setup pretty much maxed even and my PC is SHIT.

Is it possible to use profiles/savegames from the "old" versions of the two Metro-games or do you have to start all over again from the beginning with these "Redux"-versions ? (I am wondering, because I played both games, but did not finish them yet...)
thx

A small hotfix was released (For both games.) this should be a pretty minor update only adding support for older CPU models.

They will not get a dime from me!
Ok maybe I would pay 1e, if they get in humble bundle.
Metro Last Light Redux was anyway a glorified patch and overpriced even with discount, for existing owners. Unlike 2013 Redux which was a fair priced deal with discount. |
What do you mean after release?!
Release is tomorrow

It's already released for every region. No?
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

At least the ones that I saw in that mission in which you team up with a bunch of guys to stop the monsters from attacking the station.

The rat creatures are much smaller and leaner, and yes they do run from crevice to crevice stopping occasionally to take a swipe at you, only takes a few shots but there's usually a small swarm of them.
(And if you play on survivor where mutants react faster they're like a annoying pop-up constantly appearing and disappearing.)
Then there's the "watchers" as well, they pretty much work like dogs although they tend to scout areas and then alert the whole pack if you don't dispose of it silently.
They're using the Metro Last Light models now as well so there's some excellent tessellation although this has altered the monster design drastically.
(The nosalis is no longer hairy for example and the demon is smaller.)

Hmm just past dead city, I didn't see anything new? Wasn't this map suppose to be bigger or extended?
I'd fucking love these titles if they let us CHECK ammunitin like you did in condemned, ejecting the magazine and count the bullets.
