There is a DK2 version of Whirligig (very good movie player, granted it's not quite as fancy as VRCinema). It can be downloaded from here: http://www.centzon.co.uk/whirligig/

just using virtual desktop with your favorite video player is a good choice at the moment

Elite is actually not a demo. Its a full playable game, in sandbox style. Sure, there could be way more possibilitys, and there will. Still its game, a great game actually, with lots of possibilitys. One of the few that make sense to play with the rift, id say.

Not sure if my dk2 will come with old grey cloth or newer black. Should I just use them to gently clean lenses?

Ill directly put some phone cover on the lenses as soon as i get my DK2. Not worth to risk anything, especially because they dont sell lenses by themselves.

I have some note2 unused screen protector but its quite stiff so I don't see it sticking to lens as its not flat. Actually I dont see screen protector as an option on dk2 lens. It's not going to stick on non-flat surface and it might change chromatic abberration

MaxVR is supposed to be a very good VR movie player according to a reddit user, think you'll have to pay for it tho. ulr: share.oculusvr.com/app/maxvr
I can vouch for MaxVR player, I tested some Imax 3d SBS stuff with the player, really impressive stuff. Jason the developer releases updated versions a couple of times a week, I think it was like $7.
